Lead day-to-day accounting for a high-growth SaaS/AI company: own month/quarter/annual close, revenue accounting (ASC 606), financial statements, ERP selection/migration, AP/AR/payroll/tax compliance, manage external providers, support audits, and automate accounting workflows using AI and scripting.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a highly motivated, operationally minded Accounting Lead to shape our accounting operations. You'll be our first in-house accounting hire and a close partner to the VP of Finance & Ops, combining a strong accounting background with operational finance to help us build the accounting foundations and scale systems.

You'll own the day-to-day accounting function, and ideally you’re hands-on and collaborative — you've participated in audits, closed books, and handled tax compliance — but you also have a keen interest in working cross-functionally and supporting the company's growth.

We also want someone genuinely excited about what AI can do inside accounting. We run finance on scripts and AI agents, and we expect the person in this seat to push this further. You are the kind of accountant who automates your own work before anyone asks.

What You'll Do
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close end to end: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and flux review, and shorten the cycle as you go

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and balance sheet support

  • Own revenue accounting for a usage-based business: ASC 606 across consumption, committed contracts, and prepaid credit drawdown, and support billing practices

  • Own our accounting systems, and lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of the ERP we scale into, including the migration off our current GL

  • Oversee accounts payable and corporate spend policies, and support collections activities with Sales and Customer Success

  • Own payroll accounting, including domestic payroll and international contractors, and partner with People Ops on compensation execution

  • Manage our outsourced bookkeeping partner and other external providers, including tax advisors, bankers, insurance carriers, and auditors: set the scope, review the work, and hold the quality bar

  • Support audit readiness, documentation, schedules, and internal controls

  • Own compliance and filings: federal, state, and local income tax coordination with our outside tax firm, sales tax, multi-state registrations, and 1099s

  • Build towards the automated close. Use AI to take manual work out of reconciliations, accruals, flux analysis, and reporting, so the close gets faster every month as we grow

How we think about AI in this role
  • You do not wait to be asked to use AI. You are already curious about it and treat it as part of the craft

  • The measure is not how many tools you touch, it is how much manual work no longer exists or is deeply accelerated

You'll Thrive Here If You
  • Have 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally a mix of Big 4 and in-house operational roles at high-growth SaaS or AI companies

  • Have closed the books yourself, not just reviewed someone else's close

  • Can build systems and procedures from scratch and bring structure to an environment that does not have it yet, without adding process for its own sake

  • Have extensive US GAAP knowledge, especially ASC 606, and can reason well about revenue recognition when revenue is metered by usage rather than billed per seat

  • Have deep experience with ERP and accounting systems, including at least one implementation or migration you personally owned

  • Have managed close, audit, AP, AR, payroll, and tax compliance in a growing company

  • Are deeply curious about applying AI to accounting, and can point to work you have actually automated or built, not just tools you have used

  • Entrepreneurial. You try things against your own close before anyone asks you to

  • Communicate directly and are comfortable being the only accountant in the room

Bonus points if you
  • Have taken a startup through its first audit

  • Are strong in spreadsheets and curious about data infrastructure. Our current sources of truth are tables in our data warehouse

  • Have implemented an ERP at a company under 200 people

  • Have prepared a company for multi-entity or international expansion

  • Are a CPA

Why Reducto
  • Impact: Your work directly shapes how the world’s best AI companies access and use enterprise data.

  • Speed: We move fast, ship often, and iterate in days, not months.

  • Learning: Work alongside world-class engineers, operators, and founders who care deeply about product, precision, and velocity.

Benefits
  • Unlimited PTO, because great work requires recharging.

  • Daily Lunch, enjoy free lunch with teammates in the office.

  • Commuter Reimbursement, we’ll cover your transportation costs.

  • Comprehensive Insurance, medical, dental, and vision.

  • Health and Wellness Budget, up to $150 per month for wellness spending such as gym memberships or fitness classes.

  • Parental Leave, flexible scheduling that works for you and your family.

This is an in-person role based in our San Francisco office. We’re an early-stage company, we move fast and work hard. Please apply only if that excites you.
