About the role

We are a data-driven organization committed to leveraging analytics to drive financial and business decisions. Our team values collaboration, accuracy, and efficiency in data management and analysis. We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting operations with a primary focus on accounts payable, financial audit preparation, and maintaining strong relationships with external auditors. This role will lead a small team of two, striking a balance between leadership and significant day-to-day involvement in accounting processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about both operational excellence and developing team members.
This is an on-site position that requires 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ.

You will

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements.

  • Ensure compliance with ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 340-40 (Contract Costs), and other relevant standards.

  • Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and assess the impact on financial reporting.

  • Coordinate with tax team on several tax-related matters, including sales tax.

  • Assist in complex revenue recognition under ASC 606, including contract modifications, variable consideration, and performance obligation allocation for multi-element SaaS arrangements.

Audit & External Reporting Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during annual audits.

  • Prepare comprehensive audit support documentation and respond to requests from auditors.

  • Lead audit preparation activities, including flux analysis, rollforward schedules, and supporting documentation.

  • Collaborate with auditors on technical accounting positions and documentation requirements.

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise accounts payable processes to ensure accurate and timely vendor payments and reconciliations.

  • Oversee commission calculations and sales compensation accounting.

  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of senior accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth.

  • Provide training, guidance, and constructive feedback to enhance individual capabilities and career progression.

  • Balance hands-on involvement with strategic leadership to ensure both operational execution and professional development.

You have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

  • Expert-level knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 340-40, ASC 842, and ASC 718 (stock compensation).

  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, internal controls, and audit preparation.

  • Hands-on, detail-driven approach with the ability to manage both individual responsibilities and team leadership.

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Airbase, and Avalara preferred.

  • Critical thinking skills and the capability to translate concepts into next steps and ideas.

  • High energy level with a hands-on approach, combined with the ability to provide leadership and structure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
