Advisors are the future of the travel industry, trusted experts powered by technology, and this role owns the future of how they work. Travel is a $1.6 trillion industry and the advisor experience is still wide open. Most of the advisors Tern serves are small business owners. When you help them sell more, you're not moving a metric, you're making a real difference in their lives and their families' lives. This is the seat that decides what that future feels like in an advisor's hands every day.

If you want to own the product that undoubtedly decides how the entire next generation of travel advisors plan and sell, you should come work at Tern.

ABOUT TERN

Tern is a venture-backed software company on a mission to reshape the $127B travel agency industry by giving power back to the entrepreneurs who built it.

Nearly 98% of travel agencies are small businesses. These businesses have been chronically underserved by technology. We're here to change that. Our platform helps travel advisors run more efficient, professional, and profitable operations, giving them the modern infrastructure they need to lead the next chapter of travel.

But the impact goes beyond business. Travel advisors help clients move more intentionally through the world. When a traveler works with an advisor, they're more likely to avoid overtouristed hotspots and more likely to spend their dollars in places where they can do real good. That's the kind of travel we want more of.

At Tern, we believe in small business. We believe in the power of travel. And we're building the future of both.

ADVISOR PRODUCT LEAD

Travel advisors are the future of the industry, trusted experts whose value goes up, not down, when the tools around them get smarter. Tern has spent the last two years building the workflow layer advisors actually want to use. Now we're making it intelligent and mobile.

This role owns the advisor experience at its most important edges. The AI Chat experience is the big one. Today it works, but it works best for power users. Your job is to make it something every advisor can lean on for their most important workflows, shipping enhancements every week, at a unit cost that makes sense against the value it creates. Alongside that, you'll build Tern's advisor mobile app from the ground up, putting the core workflows in advisors' hands wherever they are. And you'll own the selling tools, the marketing and growth features that help advisors book more business.

This is a build-and-scale seat. The most critical advisor AI and mobile work of the year happens this Fall, and you'll be growing the team to deliver it. You'll do customer research, write the specs, QA the work, and unblock engineering directly. If you want to own the surface that decides how the next generation of advisors plans and sells travel, this is the seat.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Own the advisor AI Chat experience end to end. Get it to where every advisor, not just the power users, can run their most important workflows through it, shipping 5+ enhancements a week.

  • Build a real cost-to-value model for AI Chat so the experience scales without the economics breaking

  • Build Tern's advisor mobile app from the ground up, starting with the core advisor workflows

  • Own the advisor selling and marketing tools that help advisors book more business

  • Grow and lead the advisor team through the critical Fall development push

  • Live in the advisor Facebook group, the feedback community, and on research calls, and turn what you hear into shipped improvements fast

  • Do the full PM loop yourself: research, PRDs, weekly-shippable scoping, QA, and rollout

WHAT YOU HAVE
  • Early-stage startup operator. You were an early PM at a small, high-growth, well-backed startup (seed or Series A) and stayed 3+ years, long enough to live with the consequences of your own decisions. You're actively looking to do that again.

  • Deep AI product development. You've shipped AI and LLM-powered features hands-on, and you're fluent in the real tradeoffs: model cost, quality, latency, and how to operationalize a roadmap that drives measurable value, not demos.

  • Relentless shipping pace. You're comfortable in an environment where squads ship every week. You can break a big build into weekly chunks with standalone value, and you're rarely the blocker.

  • Operational excellence. You understand users to an extreme, communicate with ruthless clarity, and own your outcomes to a fault. You sweat the details and things you own just tend to go well.

BONUS POINTS
  • Built consumer-facing or traveler-facing products

  • Experience with AI chat or agent interfaces specifically

  • Travel or marketplace background

  • Founder or founding-team experience

WHAT WE VALUE @ TERN

🌱 We're always leveling up. Whether you're deepening your craft, learning from a teammate, or embracing a new challenge, growth is core to our identity.

🧭 We act with optimistic agency. We take initiative, seek clarity, and move forward, even when the path isn't obvious. Through every peak and valley, we lead with curiosity, laughter, kindness, and resolve.

💪 We expect operational excellence. We ship value to our users every single week. We believe that compounding habits lead to sustainable productivity, consistency, and mutual trust.

Operating Principles:

👂 We deeply understand our users. At every level of the organization, we obsess about understanding those we serve and the industry we operate in.

➕ We embrace the power of and, and not now. We challenge trade-offs by asking better questions. We break hard problems into small pieces and tackle them with intention. We also know to make the hard call to say "not right now".

📣 We speak up and move forward. Everyone at Tern has a voice and a responsibility to use it. We invite healthy tension, share dissenting views early, and challenge each other with curiosity, not ego.

🏃 We move fast and sweat the details. Velocity matters and relentless progress beats perfection every time. But speed isn't chaos: we stay aligned, own our outcomes, and care deeply about quality.

🤣 We take the work seriously, but not ourselves. We hire kind, driven people who elevate the room. If you've got a big ego or take yourself too seriously, you won't last.

WHY JOIN TERN?
  • Be part of a mission-driven team transforming the travel planning space

  • Work with a supportive, curious, and creative team

  • Influence and shape our user success strategy from the ground up

  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits package

Tern is committed to building a team that represents people from many different backgrounds and life experiences, reflecting our worldview coinciding with the users and customers we serve across the world. We prefer that you apply, so think of our postings as the start of the conversation. Take the chance, you may be a wonderful add to our Tern team, even if you don't fully match every requirement on the job description.
