Job Description:
As an Advisory Growth Specialist, you own your territory and you own the growth of their investment advisory assets. You will partner with Financial Advisors and Market Executives, identify growth opportunities, create an action plan, and revisit performance monthly to drive results. Some days that means coaching an advisor on positioning advisory relationships using investment insights. Other days it means sitting across from their client and explaining why an advisory relationship is the right answer and walking through investment recommendations.

You will help advisors:

  • Win new assets and uncover new client opportunities.
  • Transition appropriate brokerage assets into advisory relationships.
  • Deepen relationships and grow wallet share with existing clients.
  • Convert more prospects and build stronger centers of influence.
  • Build repeatable growth strategies that outlast any single campaign.

Credibility is the currency here. You earn it by understanding how advisors run their practices, bringing a point of view worth their time, and following through on what you said you would do. Nobody hands you a calendar. You build it.

This role carries real visibility. You will work directly with market leadership, influence how a strategic priority gets executed on the ground, and see your results in the numbers.

Responsibilities:
You are the catalyst for advisory growth in your market.

Working alongside a specialist team in your dedicated territory, you will:

  • Partner with Market Executives and Financial Advisors to drive advisory growth through brokerage-to-advisory conversions, new asset acquisition, referrals, retention, and wallet share expansion.
  • Lead opportunity reviews and pipeline discussions. Identify priorities, clear obstacles, create accountability, and help advisors turn plans into results.
  • Coach advisors on business development and advisory positioning, informed by guidance from our Chief Investment Office on portfolio construction, manager selection, and asset allocation.
  • Sit in client and prospect meetings, help advisors articulate the value of an advisory relationship, bring solution expertise into the room, and help close.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, private briefings, and client events by showcasing Merrill’s capabilities and pulling in the right specialists at the right time.
  • Track and communicate results using data and insight to sharpen where you spend your time.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of financial services experience, including 3 or more years working with Financial Advisors or in investment management. We will consider equivalent experience that demonstrates the same capability.
  • Experience supporting, distributing, or selling investment products, advisory solutions, or related financial services offerings.
  • Working knowledge of professionally managed investment products or the investment advisory business.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to hold a room and handle pushback in the moment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfort using CRM systems, sales tools, and reporting platforms to manage activity and measure results.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within your assigned territory.
  • Series 7 and 63/65 or 66, or the ability to obtain them within 120 days of your start date.

Desired Qualifications:

We are looking for a combination of sales ability, advisor credibility, investment knowledge, and execution discipline. Strong candidates tend to bring:

  • A track record of building trusted relationships with Financial Advisors, business owners, sales professionals, or other demanding stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to partner with senior leaders on market and sales strategy.
  • Consultative sales instincts, including the confidence to name an opportunity and ask for the business.
  • Comfort holding experienced professionals accountable to what they committed to, without becoming someone they avoid.
  • Genuine interest in investments and a practical grasp of advisory solutions, portfolio construction, and fiduciary business models.
  • Presence in front of clients, including the judgment to know when to lead a conversation and when to let the advisor own it.
  • Fluency with data and pipeline tools such as Tableau, Copilot, or Salesforce to decide where your time goes.
  • The self-direction to run a territory independently while staying tightly connected to market leadership and internal partners.

The following laws or regulations restrict or prohibit the hiring of individuals with certain specified criminal history for the position: FDIC; FINRA.
