Build and ship AI tools used across X’s moonshot factory. Identify organizational workflow opportunities, prototype AI solutions, gather user feedback, drive adoption, and collaborate with engineering and research teams to develop effective internal products.

About X, The Moonshot Factory:

X is a diverse group of inventors and entrepreneurs who build and launch technologies that aim to improve the lives of millions, even billions, of people. Our goal: 10x impact on the world’s most intractable problems, not just 10% improvement. We approach projects that have the aspiration and riskiness of research with the speed and ambition of a startup.

About the Team:

AI could make X radically better at finding bold ideas, testing them, and turning the good ones into bigger moonshots. There's no playbook for an AI-native moonshot factory, so the only way to figure it out is to experiment, constantly and hands-on. Our small Applied AI team builds the AI tools Xers use to do that.

About the Role:

We're looking for a product person who builds: someone who prototypes AI tools themselves and works with our engineers to ship products Xers use every day. You'll talk directly to users, learn how ideas and information move through X, and help our engineers build what teams really need.

In this role, roughly 50% of your scope is known. The other 50% is an unwritten frontier to explore how X builds more ambitious moonshots.

You'll do well here if AI is the first thing you reach for to solve almost any problem, you build your own AI tools on nights and weekends, and you've already used AI to make a real organization work better. You'll report to the Moonshot Philosopher.

How you will make 10x impact:

  • Learn how X works, so you can find where AI will make us radically better at building moonshots.
  • Build working AI prototypes yourself, get them in front of Xers early, and improve them based on how people actually use them.
  • Work side by side with technical and research teams on their workflow problems, and bring what works back to the core AI team.

What you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience building and shipping software products, in any role: product manager, engineer, founder, or forward-deployed.
  • Experience building AI tools that people inside an organization use every day, and getting them adopted.
  • Experience building with AI on your own: an app or agent made with tools like Claude Code or Codex, not just prompts or a chatbot.

It’d be great if you also had these:

  • Ability to read and write code.
  • Experience mapping how ideas and decisions move through an organization, and building from that map.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000 - $203,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
