Team Overview

The Data Science and Analytics team develops advanced analytics and artificial intelligence solutions that address complex business challenges and enable data-driven decision-making across TransUnion. The team translates business strategy into scalable analytics solutions designed to generate measurable impact. Working in a cross-functional environment, the team partners closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders. This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Data Science and Analytics. This is a remote position which may require occasional in-person attendance at work-related events at the discretion of management.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

  • Complete well-defined analytical assignments with guidance while building foundational knowledge in data science and analytics. 

  • Deliver accurate, reliable, and timely analytical outputs that support business decision-making. 

  • Prepare, analyze, and validate data to support data-driven business initiatives. 

  • Apply statistical and analytical techniques to address defined business problems under guidance. 

  • Follow applicable coding, data-quality, documentation, and analytical standards. 

  • Support the development and improvement of scalable and repeatable analytical processes. 

  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to understand business context, requirements, and expected outcomes. 

  • Provide progress updates, identify blockers, and participate actively in team discussions. 

  • Document analytical methods, assumptions, findings, and results clearly. 

  • Communicate insights through clear presentations and other appropriate formats. 


Required Knowledge And Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field. 

  • At least one year of professional experience in data analysis, data science, or a related role. 

  • Foundational to intermediate knowledge of data analysis and statistical concepts, with the ability to apply them to defined business problems. 

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver accurate work on time. 

  • Clear communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to provide updates, raise blockers, document work effectively, participate in team discussions, seek feedback, and continuously improve. 

Required Technical Skills 

  • Foundational to intermediate programming knowledge using Python, R, or a similar programming language. 

  • Foundational to intermediate knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) or comparable data-querying methods. 

  • Ability to follow established coding and data standards when preparing, analyzing, and validating data. 

Desired Skills 

We’re also looking for the preferred skills below. Whether you are proficient or could use some brushing up, we’re happy to support your career development and growth in: 

  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau to communicate analytical findings. 

  • Exposure to ML (Machine Learning) concepts, data science workflows, or analytics-driven decision-making. 

  • Familiarity with business domains such as customer success or fraud prevention. 

  • Experience using Jira or a similar task-management tool and contributing to documentation, presentations, or knowledge-sharing sessions. 

  • Ability to translate data insights into clear, actionable recommendations, with demonstrated curiosity and interest in learning new tools, technologies, and methodologies.
