Job Description

Experian Consumer Services (ECS) is looking for an Android Manager, with hands-on development experience, to guide a Android native application development team to even greater heights. If you love the challenge of wrangling a large development team, then this job is for you. You should also enjoy finding ways to help improve not only the product but the process.

  • Be the face of the Android team, providing a main contact for us to funnel Android specific questions.
  • Set goals for the Android developers aligning with our priorities.
  • Develop career and professional growth plans for developers and provide mentorship to team members.
  • Deliver feedback on successes and improvements to developers in regular 1:1s.
  • Guide the team in the many projects, helping them to deliver on time and with the expected quality.
  • Work with leadership to determine project timing and staffing needs for projects.
  • Comminute roadblocks quickly, precisely, and offer solutions to management.
  • Continue growing the team with a diverse, but balanced, mixture of developers to provide growth opportunities and mentorship amongst the developers.
  • Guide improvements on the team, including new technologies, processes, and methodologies.
  • Present and defend team technical and architectural choices, especially when they have impact on schedules.
  • Guide cross-team engineering efforts such as improving code review system, build pipelines, monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in Android application development.
  • 3+ years managing experience
  • Experience leading Android developers and delivering quality applications.
  • Deal with a larger number of developers.
  • Kotlin and Jetpack Compose skills
  • Proficient with the Google Play Store release process, dealing with review issues.
  • Experience with Android frameworks.
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs with Android applications.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment following the Agile methodology.
  • Understand Android UX and work with the design team to ensure UI designs are aligned with the current Android UI guidelines.
  • Experience working in Java and Kotlin code.
  • Have experience working with large code bases.
