IND Technology is growing in North America, and we’re looking for an Application Engineer - Utility Smart Grid / Power Systems' to join our team and work directly with electric utilities and our Early Fault Detection (EFD) technology.
This is not a purely desk-based engineering role. You’ll combine power systems knowledge, field engineering, technology and customer engagement, working with utility customers and internal engineering teams to solve real-world electrical network challenges.
What you’ll be doing
• Act as a key technical contact for assigned utility customers, building strong relationships and supporting timely resolution of technical and operational issues.
• Conduct site visits to support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Work with electrical distribution and transmission systems and associated utility technologies.
• Analyse system and project performance and prepare clear monthly reports, insights, and recommendations for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks, performance issues, and improvement opportunities, ensuring they are addressed or escalated appropriately.
• Bring customer feedback and field insights back into the business to support product development and R&D initiatives.
• Coordinate with engineering, product, and other internal teams to ensure strong service delivery and customer outcomes.
What we’re looking for
You’ll need:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or a closely related electrical engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience in electrical power systems, utilities or related electrical infrastructure.
• A practical understanding of electrical distribution and/or transmission networks.
• Strong analytical, technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Confidence communicating with customers and explaining technical information clearly.
• The ability to manage priorities and work independently.
• Strong written communication and technical reporting skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer and project sites as required.
Nice to have
Experience or exposure to one or more of the following would be highly regarded:
• SCADA systems
• Smart grid technologies
• Electrical asset management
• Condition monitoring
• Sensors or monitoring technologies

• Installation and commissioning
• Utility technology or field engineering
