What Do We Do?

Triple Whale is the AI operating system built for modern ecommmerce. We help you see what's actually working in your business, what's not, and what to do next. Then we take action for you — pausing the underperforming ad, generating the next batch of creative, flagging the inventory risk before it bites.

We pull every signal in your business into one place, and put it on the most trusted measurement foundation in the industry. And on top of that, we give you the most actionable AI in commerce — Moby 2 — letting you tap any LLM you want, grounded in the full context of your business. Moby 2 doesn't just surface insights, it executes decisions for you, with automations that make the rest of your stack smarter.

The result: more than 60,000 brands like Pressed Juicery, OUAI, and True Classic turn mountains of complex data into actions that actually grow profit, at a speed and scale that is not humanly possible.

What You're Applying for

Triple Whale is building the AI-powered platform that's changing how ecommerce brands understand and grow their business. We move fast, we lean on automation to punch above our weight, and we hold a high bar for craft. We're looking for a Senior Motion Designer / Art Director to be the front line for what it means to build and market products that are reshaping the ecommerce space.

This is a hybrid role: 75% hands-on craft, 25% A director and mentorship. You'll spend most of your time in After Effects bringing product stories to life, and the rest of your time setting creative direction, coaching other designers, and shaping how motion shows up across the brand. You won't just be executing you'll be one of the people deciding what "great" looks like here.

We're looking for someone senior: strong hands-on motion/animation skills, real art direction experience (or a film background), and enough taste and range to move between a fast-turnaround social cut and a premium, agency-quality work.

This role reports directly to the Creative Director.

What You’ll Do
  • Concept and create motion, animation, and video content that brings our product and brand story to life: from product marketing videos and launch campaigns to social content and experiential pieces
  • Own the craft end-to-end: storyboards, style frames, animatics, animation, and final polish, primarily in After Effects (3D via Cinema 4D, Blender, or similar is a strong plus, not a requirement)
  • Art direct across the board not just video shoots and productions, but the broader creative execution of the team. This includes directing shoots/films (travel to set when we're filming, working with directors, and production teams) as well as bringing ideas and direction to other visual design work campaigns, brand assets, decks, whatever the team is producing
  • Bring ideas to the table for the rest of the creative team, beyond your own motion work you're a source of creative direction and visual thinking that other designers can build on, not just someone who executes their own briefs
  • Set and uphold visual and motion standards across the team you'll be the person others look to for "does this feel like us, and is it good enough"
  • Coach and mentor other designers (roughly 25% of your time), giving feedback that levels people up rather than just corrects the work in front of you
  • Generate creative concepts and ideation you're not waiting for a brief, you're helping write it
  • Partner cross-functionally with product marketing, brand, and product teams to make sure motion work is grounded in what we're actually trying to say and sell
  • Balance speed and quality thrive under tight deadlines without letting the bar slip; know when "good enough, fast" is the right call and when it isn't
  • Evaluate and manage outside partners when needed (production agencies, freelancers, contractors) to extend the team's capacity on bigger campaigns
What You’ll Bring
  • 6+ years of professional motion design / animation experience, including senior or lead-level work
  • Proven art direction experience either a formal art director title, or a film/production background that translates directly. This isn't limited to video: we're looking for someone who can bring creative ideas and direction to the team's broader visual output, not just their own motion work
  • Expert-level After Effects; strong general command of the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • 3D experience (Cinema 4D, Blender, or similar) is a real plus, but not required we care more about your 2D craft and conceptual range
  • Experience in (or strong affinity for) product marketing you understand how to turn a feature or a product story into something visually compelling.
  • A portfolio that shows range: brand storytelling, product-led narrative work, and the technical chops to back it up
  • Experience managing or mentoring other designers  this is a leadership-adjacent role
  • Comfortable being the visionary and the closer you can pitch a big idea and also be the one who ships it
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for shoots and productions
  • Bonus: familiarity with AI-powered creative tools (generative video, AI-assisted animation/editing workflows) we're an AI company and we expect our creative tools to reflect that
Our Values
  • We Are Customer Obsessed: From our mission to every detailed project, everything we do is designed to create a positive impact for our customers.
  • We Move (Very!) Quickly: The speed at which we work, iterate, and deliver value is our most competitive advantage.

Base Compensation Range: $135,000 - $145,000
