Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Accounts EV Battery Sales

Lead enterprise EV battery sales to meet $60M+ annual targets by setting go-to-market strategy, building and coaching high-performing sales teams, partnering across Product/Engineering/Operations, managing forecasts, metrics, budgets, and customer engagements, and driving adoption of consultative Challenger selling for complex technical deals.
The AVP, EV Battery Sales provides executive leadership for enterprise EV battery sales and retention, accountable for delivering Business Unit revenue targets ($60M+ annually) and sustained growth. This role sets market vision and go-to-market strategy, aligns priorities to Retail Solutions Sales objectives, and ensures disciplined execution across direct and indirect sales channels.
Key focus areas include strategic planning, sales operating rhythm, and performance management to deliver predictable results. The AVP builds and leads high-performing teams, drives capability development, and brings a consultative, client-centric approach to complex, technical sales cycles. Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and other cross-functional leaders, this role advances pragmatic, analytics-informed solutions, elevates customer experience, and reinforces adoption of the Challenger selling methodology.

USD 200,600.00 - 334,300.00
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $200,600.00 - $334,300.00. The salary rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. In addition to the salary range identified herein, this role is also eligible for an annual incentive/commission target of $100,000.00.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership
- Work to build a team environment with strong morale, positive energy and a goal-oriented culture
- Actively provide development opportunities for staff; provide specific and objective feedback to maximize performance
- This is a player coach role. Coaching of direct reports on techniques to provide consistent improvement in their skills and results; this will include day-to-day problem solving and coaching their own team members to meet performance goals
- Foster open communication with team members, and clearly communicate importance of team's vision, direction, and priorities
- Establish mission critical policies and procedures (create, implement and monitor)
- Foster a positive business climate which motivates team members and holds them accountable
- Demonstrate the flexibility necessary to adjust to changing/additional duties and responsibilities as the markets and company change
- Consistent partnership, collaboration and communication across sales, client partner, engineering and operations teams and with our OEM and EV clients
Develop Business Strategy
- Develop an overall strategy for assigned product(s) and market(s) in partnership with Leadership and direct reports. The strategy will be developed through an understanding of key industry and market trends and in partnership with adjacent businesses to provide the best client experience
- Contribute and provide insight into the direction for pricing/packaging, product, customer service, marketing, sales channels, and OEM/electrification strategy
- Support sales in developing and integrating automotive insights into account strategies, client engagements, go to market strategies and business development activities at all levels of the customer
- Solicit and capture the Voice of the Customer to provide perspective and guidance on the electrification of the industry
- Collaborate closely with leadership to bring automotive insights to their accounts and prospects
- Provide feedback to leadership on changing market requirements or product enhancements based on client interactions
Develop and Deliver Revenue Goals
- Develop and apply a thorough knowledge of the industry and competitive activity, internationally, nationally and at the local level, translating this knowledge into appropriate plans and programs
- Work closely across Sales teams, Product Management, Marketing and Finance groups, and identify top revenue/share producing opportunities
- Facilitate and execute plans to leverage business opportunities
- Budget and forecast sales goals for the Business Unit/s and identify how to best utilize all resources to achieve sales goals
Manage Metrics, Budget, and Reporting
- Define the business requirements needed to develop the operational infrastructure required to deliver against goal
- Facilitate and deliver appropriate business and financial metric reporting
- Build and execute an annual business plan and manage divisional expense budget effectively
- Measure and communicate progress to goal and performance to standards
- Work closely and collaborate with Sales Operations to develop metrics, reports, tools, training and collateral for the sales team
- Develop, collect and collaborate with boundary partners in defining market potential and trajectories
Sales Management
- Lead, manage, coach and develop direct reports
- Oversee hiring, training and development of teams - including but not limited to designing, curating and engaging the right teams to develop client facing content, SMEs and repeatable programs that create organizational efficiencies
- Advocate and ensure the promotion of sales goals and objectives
- Develop regular action plans with direct reports to improve sales performance
- Establish success metrics and evaluate performance of all initiatives and programs
- Identify opportunities to leverage current promotional / sponsorship to enhance business
- Attend select local and national industry events
- Maintain ongoing awareness of market conditions and trends to ensure effective reaction to market changes
- Propose and execute policies and programs to achieve maximum sales potential for products and/or services
- Collaborate with business partners to continuously review and improve compensation, training, and sales incentive programs
- Maintain involvement with business/professional organizations to build professional relationships
- Collaborate with business leaders to remove roadblocks, identify resources, and create business cases that move the business forward.

Required Experience & Specialized Knowledge and skills
- BA/BS degree required + 14 or more years of relevant work experience required in related field with at least 7 years experience in a leadership role
- OR MS degree + 12 years of experience
- OR Ph.D. degree + 9 years of experience
- OR 18+ years of experience with no degree
- OEM Supplier experience is a positive
- 2+ years of EV, Engineering or highly technical sales or client engagement preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated business understanding and working knowledge of best practices.
- Strategic thinker with passion for the customer and an ability to think creatively and analytically.
- Previous experience working in a matrixed account management structure as well as proven track record, known entity amongst matrix team leaders.
- Experience managing revenue over $45-50m annually
- Experience leading a cross functional, multidiscipline, remote sales team.
- Strong executive presence, ability to interface effectively with the C-suite of the industry's largest dealers' clients as well as proven track record with ELT, SLT teams at Cox Automotive.
- Strong knowledge of auto industry required.
- Entrepreneurial, self-starter with strong point of view and ability to deliver and execute vision is required.
- Strong written and verbal presentation, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work across a broad range of internal and external constituents and cultures.
- Ability to travel up to 50% (day and overnight) as needed is required.
