Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Director, Marketing Sciences – HIV Treatment within Global Decision Sciences & Insights (GDSI). The role leads forecasting and analytics workstreams that inform global HIV treatment portfolio strategy, marketed-product performance, pipeline planning, and commercial decision-making. Reporting to the Senior Director, this individual will develop robust analytical models, challenge assumptions, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.

Market research experience is preferred, particularly given the role’s initial focus on demand studies, segmentation, and targeted qualitative and quantitative assessments.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Forecasting

  • Develop, maintain long-range, patient-based forecasts for marketed and pipeline HIV treatment products, including epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment flows, competitive market, product share, price and revenue.
  • Build deterministic base cases, sensitivities and alternative scenarios for launches, lifecycle strategies, competitive outcomes and portfolio opportunities; use probabilistic approaches, including Monte Carlo simulation, when appropriate.
  • Develop, reconcile and document assumptions from primary research, claims and prescription data, epidemiology, literature, competitive intelligence and regional/local input; explain changes across planning cycles.
  • Support long-range planning, pipeline and business-development opportunity assessments with transparent forecast outputs and decision implications.
  • Work with affiliate teams to translate demand research, including discrete-choice conjoint when appropriate, into predictive patient-share and revenue assumptions.
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Regional and Local Analytics & Insights, Pricing and Market Access, Literature Resources, Competitive Intelligence, R&D, Marketing/Sales and Finance to pressure-test models and align assumptions.

Analytics

  • Lead analyses of HIV treatment market dynamics and brand performance using claims, prescription, epidemiology, laboratory, chart-audit and other relevant sources, including IQVIA/IMS, SHA and consumer or social determinants of health data where appropriate.
  • Analyze patient journeys and treatment flows, including initiation, switching, persistence and sources of business; assess HCP and patient segments, competitive trends, brand drivers and unmet needs.
  • Develop and interpret market and brand KPIs, performance diagnostics and dashboards to inform brand planning, opportunity assessments and quantitative business cases.
  • Triangulate sources, identify data gaps and ex-US limitations, and evaluate new secondary data sources and methods to improve decision quality.
  • Partner with advanced analytics on predictive modeling and other fit-for-purpose approaches; connect findings to forecast assumptions, tactic measurement and marketing-mix insights where relevant, and assess appropriate AI capabilities.
  • Create accurate, accessible analyses and presentations for cross-functional and senior audiences; maintain strong quality control over internal and external deliverables.

Market Research

  • Scope and manage quantitative demand studies, including choice-based approaches when appropriate, to inform forecasts and opportunity assessments and segmentation
  • Conduct or commission focused qualitative or quantitative assessments with HCPs, patients or other relevant audiences to answer specific HIV treatment questions; integrate findings with analytics and forecasting evidence.
  • Stakeholder management
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Global Strategic Marketing, Commercial Operations, regional and local insights teams, R&D, Finance and other partners; understand their business questions and translate them into analytical priorities.
  • Act as a consultative cross-functional partner, presenting objective findings and recommendations, influencing without formal authority and helping stakeholders reach alignment on consequential decisions.
  • Share relevant brand, market and forecast insights through functional reviews and senior-leadership presentations; adapt the level of detail to the audience.
  • Manage external consulting and analytics resources from scoping through delivery, including timelines, quality and alignment to business objectives.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Strong pharmaceutical forecasting and commercial analytics skills, including patient-based revenue models, scenario analysis, data triangulation and interpretation of complex quantitative evidence.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical secondary data, such as claims, prescription, laboratory and chart-audit sources; familiarity with IQVIA/IMS, SHA, and the limitations of ex-US data.
  • Ability to synthesize diverse evidence into strategic guidance and business decisions; strong business acumen, analytical curiosity and a rigorous approach to quality control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, storytelling and data visualization; ability to simplify complex analyses for senior audiences and navigate differing viewpoints.
  • Proven project management, prioritization and vendor oversight across multiple concurrent workstreams in a matrix organization; collaborative influence and consensus-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and relevant analytics or visualization tools; familiarity with Tableau is useful.
  • HIV treatment or broader virology experience preferred; experience with provider-administered products and focused demand or qualitative/quantitative research is beneficial.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience; OR
  • Master's degree and 8 years of experience; OR
  • PhD and 2 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced business, life-science, healthcare, analytics or data-science degree; relevant experience in biopharmaceutical commercial strategy, consulting, forecasting or analytics.
