The Opportunity:

The Associate Director, Digital Experience Platforms Owner is accountable for the strategy, governance, and evolution of the company’s global web and digital experience platform ecosystem.

This role establishes the standards, operating model, and technology roadmap needed to support global websites and multiple product launches. The Associate Director ensures that digital experience platforms are secure, compliant, measurable, accessible, and designed for reuse across markets.

The role provides leadership across web platforms, web analytics, tagging, localization, cookie consent management, and related integrations. It partners with Commercial, Medical Affairs, global and regional technology teams, Security, Privacy and external agencies to translate business needs into scalable digital solutions. Key responsibilities include:

Discipline Leadership and Strategy

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for web platforms, analytics, tagging, cookie consent management, and related integrations.

  • Advise peers and leaders on platform opportunities, risks, investments, and business tradeoffs.

  • Translate business and technology strategies into a multi-year roadmap that advances platform modernization, responsible AI adoption, and digital experience innovation.

  • Contribute to broader omnichannel, content technology, data, and commercialization strategies.

Platform Roadmap and Governance

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for the global digital experience ecosystem supporting product launches, international expansion, and new capabilities/innovation.

  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, and determine where they can improve customer experience, delivery speed, quality, scalability, or cost.

  • Establish policies and standards for architecture, development, hosting, security, privacy, accessibility, performance, analytics, localization, and content publishing.

  • Balance immediate delivery needs with scalability, reuse, modernization, and technical sustainability.

  • Build the skills, partnerships, and adoption plans required to incorporate AI and new digital capabilities into established workflows.

Portfolio and Launch Enablement

  • Maintain oversight of the existing global website portfolio, including platform health, security, accessibility, performance, technical debt, and lifecycle planning.

  • Govern the pipeline of new websites and major enhancements, partnering with Delivery Leads to prioritize demand, sequence work, allocate capacity, and promote reuse of global platforms and components.

  • Own the web and digital experience backlog, including intake governance, strategic trade-offs and sequencing of major enhancements, platform modernization, technical debt and innovation initiatives.

  • Establish repeatable methods for website creation, localization, testing, approval, deployment, operation, and retirement.

  • Provide senior platform leadership for product launches and deployment into new international markets.

  • Reduce unnecessary customization, duplicated development, and market-specific solutions through reusable global patterns.

Vendor Management

  • Allocate resources based on roadmap priorities, business value, demand, and platform risk.

  • Hold vendors accountable for delivery, service quality, financial commitments, security obligations, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide senior input into vendor selection, contracts, renewals, and major sourcing decisions.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, digital product management, marketing technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience supporting regulated, privacy-sensitive, or compliance-intensive digital experiences in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals.

  • Significant experience leading enterprise web, digital experience, or marketing technology platforms.

  • Experience serving as a product owner or platform owner for a complex global technology ecosystem.

  • Demonstrated experience establishing web architecture, governance, development, and operational standards.

  • Experience managing a portfolio of websites across multiple brands, business units, and markets.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager CMS, analytics, tag management, consent management, cloud hosting, APIs, and platform integrations.

  • Strong understanding of software delivery, quality assurance, release management, security, accessibility, and platform lifecycle management.

  • Experience managing technology vendors, digital agencies, contracts, budgets, and delivery performance.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior business and technology stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.

  • Experience applying AI or automation to web development, quality assurance, accessibility, localization, content operations, personalization, analytics, or digital experience optimization.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with One Trust Cookie Manager, GA4 and GTM.

  • Familiarity with global privacy requirements and pharmaceutical digital compliance considerations.

The base pay salary range for this full-time position for candidates working onsite at our headquarters in Redwood City, CA is listed below. The range displayed on each job posting is intended to be the base pay salary range for an individual working onsite in Redwood City and will be adjusted for the local market a candidate is based in. Our base pay salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual base pay salary is determined by multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, market dynamics, and relevant education or training.

Base Pay Salary Range
$186,000—$233,000 USD
