Associate Embedded Software Engineer

The Company

AnySignal is developing the next generation of RF products and services for some of the most demanding space and defense missions. We’re building a flexible, high-performance platform that’s easy to deploy, monitor, and scale, enabling customers to bring advanced radio technologies to life faster than ever before.

The Role

As an Associate Embedded Software Engineer on AnySignal's Space Software team, you'll develop mission-critical embedded software for advanced radio systems supporting space and defense applications. You'll gain hands-on experience across the embedded software stack, from low-level RF integrated circuit drivers and high-speed FPGA interfaces to embedded Linux, networking, and fault-tolerant software architecture.

You'll work alongside experienced software, hardware, and FPGA engineers to solve real engineering challenges, contribute to reliable communications and sensing capabilities, and take on increasing technical ownership as you grow. Your work will directly support products operating in demanding environments where reliability and performance are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Own the development of mission-critical embedded C++ running on Linux-based embedded systems.

  • Collaborate with software, hardware, DSP, and FPGA engineers to define the system requirements, interfaces, and architecture.

  • Participate in hardware bring-up, schematic reviews, and hands-on debugging of embedded radio platforms.

  • Build automated hardware-in-the-loop tests to validate system performance and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues across embedded hardware and software systems.

  • Work directly with our customers to integrate our products into their flight systems, debug RF links, and ensure mission success.

Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of C++ or C programming.

  • Understanding of embedded systems through at least 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent internship, coursework, or hands-on project experience.

  • Experience developing software on Linux platforms or microcontrollers.

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and take ownership of technical challenges.

  • Passion for understanding the hardware that your software talks to.

Desired Skills
  • Experience with network programming, including TCP/IP, UDP, and socket programming.

  • Understanding of digital signal processing, modem design, and RF communications concepts.

  • Experience with board bring-up, schematic review, and troubleshooting hardware.

  • Hands-on experience testing and debugging RF hardware in a lab environment using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other RF test equipment.

  • Experience developing for Xilinx MPSoC-based devices.

  • Experience with Linux platform development, such as Buildroot, U-Boot, and Xilinx FSBL creation.

  • Experience writing RTL for FPGAs or software that interacts with the FPGA fabric.

  • Experience with Python, build systems (CMake, Make, Bazel), and CI pipeline development (GitLab).

  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing.

  • Experience working on robotics, aerospace, communications, or other hardware-focused engineering projects.

Compensation

The estimated base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $145,000 per year, plus equity. This range reflects our good-faith estimate for this position at the time of posting. The final base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, skills, and market considerations.

In addition to base salary and equity, AnySignal offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401k program, competitive paid time off, and paid parental leave.

Export Control Requirements

To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b, or eligible to obtain the necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
