Job Summary & Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Athletic Director is responsible for the financial success of the youth and adult sports program through the on-going creation and/or development of staff, programs and services. This position will provide leadership to the sports Associates to ensure the delivery of professional, high-quality, programs to our membership. This position will require an extensive knowledge of youth and adult sports programming, age-appropriate instruction, as well as a talent for engaging participants in activities that support their overall physical and mental health.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

Sports Program and Operations Management

  • Create and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate sports programs for adults and youth
  • Ensure safety and security through monitoring of facilities, equipment, and operational systems
  • Regular inspections of the sports areas to ensure a clean, organized, safe, and well maintained facility; coordinate repairs and maintenance of sports related equipment
  • Manage all athletic programs that utilize the Gymnasium, including but not limited to, basketball leagues, camps and clinics, volleyball programming, badminton programming, and specialty fitness programming
  • Develop and manage a marketing and communication plan for each program, based on target demographic, brand standards and financial goals
  • Purchase needed supplies and equipment, based on program needs and expense budget
  • Anticipate staffing needs when building program plans; recruit, train and supervise staff so programs are executed safely and successfully while exceeding customer and club expectations

 

Financial Accountability

  • Manage financial performance of the Sports program through achievement of sales and revenue targets, expense management, proper planning and forecasting, and retention
  • Track, report and analyze the details of financial operation
  • Prepare and implement action plans to meet or exceed monthly financial goals
  • Review applicable financial statements and reports

 

Contribute to an Engaging Team Experience

  • Work closely with team members to create cohesive team environment, promoting teamwork and high staff morale
  • Support other team members when critical needs arise, if needed
  • Execute any additional duties as assigned by the General Manager and/or Leadership staff

  • Effectively and professionally interacts and communicates with senior management, managers, other Associates, vendors, members, senior staff, and guests. 
  • Promote harmonious relations among members, staff, vendors, and the community at-large.
  • Communicate timely and follow up, as appropriate.
  • Active participation in required events, required programs, required meetings and required trainings.
  • Ensure the TBCC mission and club brand is upheld in all aspects of club operations
  • Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow through and response

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum of two years of experience in sports programming
  • Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting preferred
  • Ability to create and implement innovative youth and adult sports programs
  • Professional, friendly manner and excellent customer service attitude and abilities
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand   
  • Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information
  • Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and willing to acquire new skills
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to develop and maintain computer records in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and other software required by TBCC and regulatory agencies
  • CPR/AED certification required

  • It is sometimes necessary to deal with unpleasant or angry people with the need to problem solve difficult situations

  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays required
