This role is part of our 3D AI Studio team, one of our growing brands at saas.group.

3D AI Studio is an AI platform that turns images and text into ready-to-use 3D models in minutes, work that traditionally takes a 3D artist days or weeks. Game developers, 3D printing enthusiasts and creators use the platform to generate and edit images, turn them into 3D models in every major format, and chain it all together into their own pipelines. With more than 2 million registered users, we are now expanding into the business space, building custom AI workflows for companies such as 3D printing businesses.

Profile Overview

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to take full ownership of our Django backend and production infrastructure. You’ll work directly with our founder to review and improve code, build backend features, and keep the platform stable, secure and fast for a large and growing global user base.

This is a role with real ownership: the backend and the server are yours, and you’ll have the autonomy to decide how to make them better. You won’t start from zero either: you’ll work alongside the engineer who currently looks after our backend while you get up to speed. The role is fully remote, with working hours aligned to Central European Time.

Your immediate impact in the first 3-6 months will be:

  • Get to know our backend and server inside out, working alongside our current backend engineer, and take over full ownership.
  • Review and improve our existing Python/Django code and start shipping new backend features.
  • Help migrate our PostgreSQL database to Neon.
  • Make sure background jobs, external API integrations, monitoring and backups run reliably.

Your responsibilities

  • Own our Python/Django backend: review, improve and develop code, and build new backend features together with the founder.
  • Manage our Hetzner Linux server, deployments, software updates and server security.
  • Investigate backend issues, resolve incidents and improve performance, so the platform stays stable, secure and fast.
  • Maintain our PostgreSQL database and help migrate it to Neon.
  • Keep background jobs, external API integrations, monitoring and backups reliable.
  • Use AI coding tools daily to move fast without compromising quality.

What You bring to the table

  • Python & Django: Strong production experience building and maintaining backends with Python and Django.
  • Databases: Good PostgreSQL / SQL skills, including query optimisation and migrations.
  • Linux & infrastructure: Hands-on Linux server administration and production troubleshooting.
  • Backend architecture: Experience with REST APIs, background jobs and task queues such as Celery / RabbitMQ.
  • Engineering practices: Comfortable with Git, code reviews, testing and safe deployments.
  • Ownership & communication: You’re independent and reliable, improve things on your own initiative, and communicate technical issues clearly.
  • AI Literacy & Application: You actively use AI tools to enhance personal productivity and work quality, staying curious about emerging capabilities and identifying opportunities to apply AI pragmatically in day-to-day work.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with Hetzner, Neon, Nginx, S3-compatible storage or CI/CD.
  • Basic familiarity with 3D models and simple 3D workflows. No advanced 3D expertise required.
  • Experience with AI APIs or media processing.

What’s in it for You

  • Ultimate flexibility: We’re 100% remote. You can work from wherever you like, whenever you like.
  • Freedom and autonomy: We’re a high-trust team, and you’ll be given lots of flexibility to solve problems in your own way, with plenty of help from the team when you need it.
  • Minimum bureaucracy: We don’t like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable.
  • Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and joke around.
  • Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning and expertise with each other internally.
  • Flexible time off: We want you to recharge your batteries when needed.

3D AI Studio is part of saas.group and we have a shared goal of succeeding together.
