As a Backend Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping the technical foundation that powers our agent network and platform. You’ll apply your development expertise and contribute to our efforts to digitize the movement of cash throughout our banking network in a secure and robust manner, paving the way for financial services to operate in underserved markets. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of system design, product thinking, and execution. You'll work cross-functionally to architect robust backend systems that are flexible enough to meet regional needs while resilient enough to support markets in in multiple countries.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain systems that digitize and automate financial workflows for our associates.
- Develop infrastructure to track and manage physical cash movements at scale.
- Create backend features that support loyalty cards, including payroll deposits and redemption workflows.
- Collaborate with product managers, operations, and fellow engineers to translate business processes into digital workflows.
- Champion engineering best practices across the team, including testing, code reviews, observability, and documentation.
- Drive reliability, performance, and security improvements across our platform.
- Backend development experience in Node.js, Go, Python, or similar—plus strong understanding of REST APIs and event-driven architecture.
- Product mindset with a focus on solving real-world problems while designing for long-term scalability and reuse.
- Domain modeling skills—you know how to shape complex business requirements into clean, maintainable systems.
- Excellent communication, especially in writing and visuals—you can explain technical and product concepts clearly across cultural and language boundaries.
- Comfort with ambiguity—you’re at ease navigating loosely defined problems and environments.
- Internationalization expertise—building for multilingual or multi-market platforms.
- Experience in regulated domains—such as financial services, healthcare (HIPAA), or privacy (GDPR, SOC2, KYC).
- Domain knowledge in finance-adjacent areas—like accounting, HR systems, inventory management, or logistics.

Yearly Salary: $150,000 - $260,000
