A Banquet Porter with Hilton Hotels and Resorts is responsible for setting up function rooms and reception areas with furniture and equipment as specified in the function contracts. Provide professional, friendly service to banquet guests.

Responsibilities

Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Review function contracts and work sheets to confirm and understand room set up requirements 
  • Move and set up tables, chairs, platforms. Podiums and floor sections between function location and storage areas
  • Move room partitions based on function contract requirements
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working order. Report any deficiencies to the Banquet Manager
  • Pick up glassware from stewarding department
  • Load trolleys, deliver to the function locations, set up and skirt food and beverage self serve tables and regular service tables
  • Arrange glasses, ice water, pads and pens on meeting room tables in keeping with Department standards
  • Assemble and disassemble platforms and room sections
  • Deliver dirty linen and pick up clean linen
  • Tidy the function rooms floors prior to and after the set up
  • Maintain organized and safe storage areas. Ensure all fire exits are clear and accessible
  • Assist other departments, as necessary

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

To successfully fill this role you should be able to demonstrate the attitude, behaviours, skills and values that follow: 

  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Flexible schedule must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Good command of Written and Oral English
  • Ability to lift heavy objects over 40lbs
  • Previous experience working as a porter
  • Smart Serve Certified

 

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
