About the Role

We're shipping product launches, industry events, and recurring web and social campaigns — and our brand needs to scale from "one designer covering everything" to a system non-designers can ship against. We're hiring a Brand Designer to own the visual system for an engineer-first AI company and to ship the creative behind our most visible moments. This is not an agency-style identity engagement. It's in-house, build-the-system, ship-the-launch.

What You'll Own
  • Launch & campaign creative (50%): The visual work behind product launches, conferences and industry events, and recurring web and social hero work. Stack: Figma + AI image and video tools + light motion. Quality control: every launch ships with one polished hero and a system of derivatives — social, web, sales deck, partner-facing — not one-off renders.

  • Brand system & guidelines (35%): The durable system that lets non-designers ship on-brand. Components, type scale, color tokens, illustration patterns, photography direction, and a clear do-not-do list (no SaaS-pastel, no gradient-on-gradient, no abstract blobs, no stock illustration). Quality control: usable by PMM, recruiting, and sales without a designer in the loop for every asset.

  • Cross-functional design support (15%): Sales decks, recruiting collateral, exec keynote visuals, internal launches. The work that doesn't make a portfolio but makes the company look serious.

Who You Are

You've built brand systems that scaled past you — non-designers ship on-brand work without you in the loop. Your portfolio shows range: editorial, industrial, technical. You understand that design is inherently tied to the business, not user delight. You ship launch creative on cadence: comp to delivery in days, not weeks. You move fluidly between Figma and AI tools and have opinions about when each one helps versus dilutes. You can name three brands you admire that aren't in tech and explain why.

Where You Might Come From

In-house brand designers at engineering-led companies (Vercel, Linear, Stripe, Figma). Editorial or print designers who moved into tech. Standout agency creatives ready to go in-house. Designers from crypto/web3 or other highly online, fast-moving ecosystems.

Perks & Benefits
  • Catered lunch daily + dinner stipend

  • $150/month wellness benefit (gym, fitness classes, mental health)

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • 401(k) plan

  • Paid parental leave (12 weeks maternal, 6 weeks paternal)

  • Commuter benefits

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
