About Numeral

Numeral is building the automation backbone for internet commerce — starting with the painful world of sales tax compliance. We handle everything from registration to remittance, delivering a white-glove service so ecommerce and digital businesses can stay laser-focused on what they do best: growing their products, customers, and teams.

We’re one of the fastest-growing companies from Y Combinator’s W23 batch, backed by top-tier investors including Benchmark Capital, Mayfield and Uncork. Our team has deep roots from the early days at Stripe, Airbnb, Notion, and other breakout companies — and now we’re bringing that same level of craft, speed, and ambition to a space that’s long overdue for reinvention.

Numeral is small but mighty. Growth is already borderline unmanageable — which means every hire we make now will directly shape the trajectory of the company. If you’re excited about joining as an early team member and want the kind of ownership that defines careers, we want to meet you.

About the role

As the first-principles operator and strategic partner to the CBO, you will sit at the intersection of product, growth, and execution. You are responsible for ensuring that the core product scales efficiently by bridging the gap between high-level strategy and daily "boots on the ground" execution.

You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Customer Experience teams to identify bottlenecks, improve workflows, and build repeatable processes that support product velocity, quality, and customer outcomes. This role reports directly to the CBO.

What you’ll do

  • Drive execution for the core product: Partner with the CBO and Co-Founders to translate strategy into clear plans, priorities, and execution milestones.

  • Design scalable workflows: Build repeatable, automation-friendly processes for teams using a combination of RPA tools, SQL, and AI agents.

  • Improve operating rigor and efficiency: Identify friction points in product development, launch, and post-launch workflows. Design and implement lightweight processes, dashboards, and operating rhythms to improve execution speed and clarity.

  • Support data-informed decisions: Pull together insights from product, operational, and customer data to inform leadership decisions. Help define and track metrics that reflect product health and operational leverage.

  • Own rollouts from 0–1: Pilot new operational systems, document workflows, train the team, and scale across regions.

  • Crossfunctional collaboration: Help drive planning, prioritization, and follow-through across Product, Engineering, and Operations. Track progress on high-impact initiatives and surface risks, tradeoffs, and dependencies early.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of experience in Business Operations, Strategy & Operations, Program Management, or Product Operations roles at a high-growth company –ideally in a fintech, SaaS, or compliance-focused startup.

  • Familiarity with process automation tools (Google Sheets, AppScript, RPA frameworks)

  • Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.

  • Generalist skill set with the ability to move between strategy, execution, and problem-solving.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Comfort working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams.

Even better if you have

  • Experience working closely with senior leadership (COO, CPO, or founders).

  • Exposure to fintech, SaaS, payments, or regulated industries.

  • Strong analytical skills (Excel / Sheets; SQL familiarity a plus).

  • Experience building operating cadences (OKRs, planning cycles, execution reviews).

  • Prior experience at an early-stage or rapidly scaling company.

Why Join Numeral?

  • Be a core operator at a fast-growing, AI-native company.

  • Work directly with leadership and influence how the core product scales.

  • Gain exposure across Product, Engineering, Data, and Operations.

  • Make a visible, immediate impact on execution and outcomes.

  • Competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and strong growth opportunities.
