About Town

Town (town.com) is AI that starts from who you are. We build a persistent model of your identity -- your voice, your judgment, your relationships, your priorities -- and use it to do real work on your behalf across every tool where you operate: email, calendar, documents, Slack, CRM, and more. Town doesn't wait for you to prompt it. It observes, learns, and acts. The more you use it, the more it becomes an extension of you.

Town was founded by Jean-Denis Greze (CEO), former CTO of Plaid, where he led EPD from $10M to $300M+ in ARR, and Tony Vincent (CPO), former Director of Applied AI Product at Google and co-founder of Aspen (acquired by Google) and Sold (acquired by Dropbox). JDG and Tony worked together at Dropbox and have been friends for over a decade.

We're backed by an oversubscribed $18M seed round led by Todd Jackson at First Round Capital, with participation from Conviction, Alt Capital, and world-class angels including Adam D'Angelo, Soleio Cuervo, and Immad Akhund.

About the Role

Town is hiring our first Business Operations hire. You'll work directly with the Head of Business and CEO to build the operational and strategic backbone of a fast-growing AI company -- and play a central role in how Town goes to market and how we incubate new functions. We launched a beta in February and have seen tremendous initial growth, which is why we're hiring this role now.

This is a role for someone who wants to be in the room where decisions happen -- not watching from the sidelines. You'll move between a financial review and a positioning conversation in the same afternoon, and that should feel like a feature, not a bug.

Example projects include...
  • Building the systems and processes that let a small team operate like a much larger one -- leveraging AI tools (including Town itself) to automate and scale operational work

  • Owning the operational infrastructure for monetization -- billing, operations, and pricing

  • Owning the company's strategic vendor relationships across a fast-evolving stack of AI and SaaS vendors

  • Leading core metrics and segment analysis -- pattern-matching across qualitative feedback and quantitative signals to inform where the company doubles down

  • Becoming the strategic connective tissue between finance, legal, and go-to-market as the company adds its first layers of structure

You might thrive in this role if you...
  • Have 4-7+ years in business operations, strategy & operations, chief of staff, or a generalist role at a high-growth startup or technology company

  • Operate at the intersection of "keep the company running" and "figure out where the company is going" -- as comfortable managing a compliance deadline as synthesizing user feedback into a positioning recommendation

  • Have strong financial literacy -- comfortable managing vendor relationships, reading financial statements, tracking budgets, and coordinating with accountants and counsel (you don't need to be a CPA)

  • Write exceptionally well -- you can draft to outside counsel, investors' portfolio teams, and beta users, shifting register depending on the audience

  • Have strong judgment about prioritization -- you know what matters most on any given day and act on it, rather than working through a checklist

  • Are energized by ambiguity and context-switching -- a vendor contract, a set of beta feedback calls, and a monetization plan in one afternoon sounds exciting, not exhausting

  • Are genuinely AI-curious and want to use AI to make yourself more effective

  • Are excited about working in-person in SF, five days a week

Location

San Francisco, CA -- five days a week in-person at our Financial District office (222 Kearny St, near Montgomery BART stop).
