NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker at Chapel of the Chimes Oakland, CA. The Cemetery Caretaker is responsible for the overall appearance of the columbarium, mausoleum, and funeral home locations, including general cleaning, maintenance and groundskeeping, installing crypt faces, memorials, monuments, conducting interments, entombments and inurnments, and repairs and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Facilities Cleaning:
    • Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral home, columbarium, and mausoleum facilities.
    • Daily duties include janitorial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cobweb removal
    • Cleans and maintains the facility, dispose of trash, performs minor repairs, painting, etc.
    • Assists in loading and unloading deliveries.
  • Grounds Keeping:
    • Maintains lawn and trims around trees, walkways, and memorial markers
    • Weed and debris removal from gardens
    • Moves and removes flowers to and from the chapel and graveside.
    • Blows leaf and grass
    • Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways in a safe condition.
    • Cleans fountains
  • Interment Services
    • Assist team with entombments and inurnments
    • Help with preparation and setup for opening and closing interments, entombments, and inurnments
    • Assist team with installation of memorial markers for crypts and niches

Compensation

$21-$23/hr.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 6 + months of experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance
