How To MANAGE a Small Law Firm (HTM)

You've built it, fixed it, and owned every number. Now do it again — inside the businesses that need you most.

Compensation: $110,000 base + uncapped performance compensation, with $182,000+ in total earnings potential.

Location: 100% remote. Candidates must reside in AZ, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, LA, MD, MI, MO, NC, NE, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV. Due to state registration requirements, we can only employ candidates in these states.

    The Opportunity

This isn't a board seat or a role where you hand over a strategy deck and walk away. You'll work directly with small law firm owners, typically running businesses with $1M–$5M in annual revenue, helping them improve profitability, strengthen operations, solve problems, and grow.

We're looking for someone who has actually run a business as its CEO, made the tough decisions, owned the P&L, and been accountable for the results. You'll use that experience to help business owners identify what's holding them back, implement practical solutions, and follow through until the numbers improve.

If you've led a company through significant growth and know what it takes to build a stronger business, keep reading.

    What You'll Do
    • Drive growth and execution: Help owners turn opportunities into actionable plans and measurable results.
    • Diagnose and solve problems: Identify revenue opportunities, profitability issues, and operational inefficiencies.
    • Improve financial performance: Help owners make better decisions about pricing, margins, cash flow, expenses, and hiring.
    • Create accountability: Establish priorities, challenge assumptions, and hold owners accountable for executing their plans.
    • Build stronger businesses: Implement the systems and processes needed for sustainable growth and profitability.
    What You Must Bring
    • Actual CEO experience: At least eight years of hands-on business operating experience, including experience serving as the actual CEO of a company with full P&L responsibility.
    • A proven scaling track record: You've personally led a business from approximately $500K to $10M+ in annual revenue.
    • Company-wide accountability: You've been responsible for the overall financial and operational performance of a business, not just a department or function.
    • Owner-facing leadership: You're comfortable working directly with business owners, challenging their assumptions, coaching them through difficult decisions, and holding them accountable.
    • A hands-on mindset: You don't just recommend solutions. You help implement them and stay accountable for results.
    • Strong business instincts: You can identify root causes, understand financial drivers, and translate complex issues into practical action plans.

Important: You do not need to have owned the company you scaled. However, you must have served as its actual operating CEO and personally led its growth. Experience as a consultant, coach, advisor, fractional executive, or department leader does not substitute for this requirement.

Be prepared to identify the company, its annual revenue when you took over and when you left, your P&L responsibilities, and the decisions you personally made to drive growth. We are looking for actual annual company revenue, not pipeline, valuation, capital raised, or revenue you influenced while advising another business.

This Role Is Not for You If…
    • You've never served as the actual CEO of a business you've personally led through significant growth.
    • Your experience is primarily consulting, coaching, advising, or fractional executive work.
    • You've managed a department but haven't been accountable for the overall business P&L.
    • Your accomplishments are primarily sales quotas, pipeline, or ARR rather than company-wide operating results.
    • You prefer strategy without hands-on execution.
    • You're looking for a side gig. This is a full-time commitment.
    Compensation & Benefits
    • $110,000 base salary
    • $182,000+ total earnings potential with uncapped, performance-based compensation.
    • Full-time W-2 employment.
    • 100% remote within the eligible states listed above.
    • Benefits package and unlimited PTO.

HTM provides client acquisition and business development support so you can focus on advising clients and driving results.
