The Opportunity

We seek a Finance Futurist, a visionary leader to drive financial innovation, digital transformation, and future-focused strategy within Finance. This pioneering role goes beyond traditional finance, leveraging emerging technologies, data-driven insights, and market foresight to position Genentech Finance as a lighthouse for digital transformation across Roche. The Finance Futurist will work cross-functionally to anticipate financial trends, develop innovative business models, and implement next-generation technologies, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and future-proofing the organization's financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate financial trends: Continuously scan the external landscape to identify emerging trends and disruptive technologies.

  • Lead Digital Transformation for Genentech Finance: Act as a catalyst for change, defining a clear and ambitious roadmap for digital transformation, ensuring alignment with business needs and technological advancements. 

  • Drive digital technology adoption: in collaboration with eCOE(enterprise Center of Excellence) and IT, evaluate, recommend, and implement AI, machine learning, and other next-gen financial technologies to enhance efficiency and accelerate value realization.

  • Enhance data-driven decision-making to achieve Business Outcomes faster: In collaboration with eCOE and leveraging the new SAP system, establish advanced analytics capabilities to extract valuable insights from financial data, empowering leadership with real-time, predictive intelligence.

  • Work cross-functionally: Partner with IT, eCOE, and other internal stakeholders to align digital initiatives with overall business objectives.

  • Drive cultural and operational change: Lead the adoption of new ways of working within Finance, ensuring teams embrace technology, agility, and continuous innovation.

  • Lead and coach a team by setting clear expectations and accountability within the team for impacting patients, customers, our organization, and the team.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Business (MBA preferred)

  • 10+ years of experience (in Finance or Biopharma preferred)

  • Proven ability to see beyond the present, anticipate future financial trends, and develop proactive strategies

  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, business models, and industry dynamics

  • Experience leading large-scale transformation initiatives within Finance or related functions with a track record of driving cultural and operational change

  • Deep knowledge of emerging finance technologies 

  • Experience implementing data-driven decision-making tools and methodologies

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence C-suite, cross-functional leaders and cross-cultural teams

  • Passion for continuous learning, adaptability, and a future-oriented mindset

  • Experience with SAP, particularly S/4HANA, is a strong advantage

  • Experience with data strategies and advanced data management platforms that support data mesh architecture

This position is based in South San Francisco and has an in office requirement of 3 days/week.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $199,600 - $370,800.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
