The US Healthcare & Life Sciences Chief of Staff (CoS) is a critical role that works closely with the Corporate Vice President and Leadership Team (LT). The role leads the Operating Unit (OU) Executive Office, driving leadership team operations, strategic initiatives, communications, organizational health, and execution of key business priorities. The CoS is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the LT operating rhythm, including setting up and driving key processes to get work done. The CoS will provide insight and advice to the LT around operational excellence, resource and fiscal planning, organization health & development, and contribute to strategic planning, decision-making, and execution across the organization.  The CoS will also be involved in working with the Corporate Vice President and the LT to identify and develop strategies and content to be used for team sharing, and executive reviews.     
    
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain deep insight into the business operations, strategic priorities, and customer landscape of a large-scale organization while expanding your understanding of Microsoft’s Healthcare & Life Sciences business. We are seeking a passionate, mission-driven Chief of Staff to join a high-performing team focused on empowering healthcare and life sciences organizations to inspire and empower our customers to achieve transformational healthcare outcomes.    
 


Responsibilities

Leadership Effectiveness   
As the leadership team guides the business through growth, innovation, and an evolving Healthcare & Life Sciences landscape, drive the leadership operating rhythm by managing LT and extended LT priorities, agendas, decision-making processes, and communications. Serve as a trusted advisor, bring synthesized insights, strategic perspective, and sound business judgment that help inform key decisions and accelerate execution. Maximize the effectiveness of the Corporate Vice President by helping align priorities, strengthen communication, ensure engagement in the most impactful forums, and foster strong connections across the organization to advance our mission of driving better outcomes for healthcare and life sciences customers. 

  

Team Development & Culture   
Champion an inclusive, high-performing culture by partnering with HR and the LT to shape the team culture. Lead initiatives that strengthen team health, engagement, and belonging while fostering a workplace where employees can do their best work. Implement cross-team process improvements that enhance collaboration, employee recognition, and organizational effectiveness. 
   
Communications   
Champion the communications strategy and execution for the Corporate Vice President, ensuring messaging and engagement channels reinforce the organization's priorities, culture, and business objectives. Partner closely with the Business Manager to drive impactful internal communications across team meetings, organizational milestones, and leadership engagement moments, while helping shape executive communications and external engagement opportunities that maximize the reach and impact of the Corporate Vice President's voice. Ensure communications advance strategic priorities, strengthen organizational alignment, and further our mission to empower healthcare and life sciences organizations to achieve better outcomes through technology. 

  
Business Management & Operational Excellence 

Partner with the Corporate Vice President and leadership team to drive business planning, organizational priorities, and execution across the Healthcare & Life Sciences organization. Help define strategic objectives, key rhythms of business, success measures, and leadership governance to ensure alignment against organizational goals. Lead the development and execution of operating mechanisms, business reviews, and planning processes, bringing together leaders across the organization to create a shared perspective on priorities, performance, and opportunities. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to synthesize insights, develop leadership content, and drive clarity, accountability, and execution against the organization's strategic priorities. 
    
Business Partner Relationships & Organizational Influence 

Build trusted partnerships across key stakeholders, including Finance, HR, CELA, Sales Excellence, Marketing, Sales Enablement & Operations, and other Microsoft teams to drive alignment and execution against business priorities. Collaborate effectively with senior leaders across Microsoft to remove barriers, accelerate decision-making, and connect organizational efforts to broader company objectives. Serve as a strategic advisor to the Corporate Vice President and leadership team, leveraging business insight, organizational context, and an understanding of the Healthcare & Life Sciences industry to drive outcomes, influence decisions, and advance customer impact. 


Cross-Functional Leadership & Strategic Initiatives 

Lead and coordinate high-impact, cross-organizational initiatives that advance strategic priorities and improve business performance. Partner with leaders across the organization to define objectives, establish execution plans, track progress, and drive accountability. Anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and bring structure to complex challenges, ensuring key initiatives deliver measurable business value and organizational impact. 


Organizational Planning & Transformation 

Partner with the leadership team, HR, and key stakeholders to shape and execute organizational planning, workforce strategy, and change initiatives. Identify opportunities to strengthen organizational effectiveness, improve collaboration, and accelerate business outcomes. Support organizational design discussions and implementation plans while exercising sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when navigating sensitive business and people-related matters. 

 Business Operations & Rhythm of Business 

Drive the operational excellence of the Healthcare & Life Sciences organization through effective planning, governance, and execution of the rhythm of business. Partner with Business Managers, Finance, HR, Staffing, and leadership teams to oversee business reviews, fiscal planning, headcount strategy, workforce planning, and key operating mechanisms. Ensure alignment across priorities, resources, and execution plans while continuously improving processes that enable the organization to scale, operate efficiently, and deliver against its goals. 



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:    

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 12+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 15+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years people management experience.


Business Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
