About Usul

Usul is building the “Amazon for Government”, a world where any company can sell to any government in a few clicks on their computer. Anything from national security tech, space stations, energy infrastructure, healthcare and more.

Our AI platform helps companies identify, pursue, and win the government opportunities they’re most likely to convert and makes it dramatically easier for governments to buy from the private sector.

In 1 year we’ve grown to $5M+ ARR securing Fortune 500 government contractors, the U.S. government and NATO as customers. We’re now entering the next phase of growth to capture the entire U.S. market and expand to over 60+ allied nations.

We’re building a small, elite team with high standards and low ego. We care about doing whatever it takes, getting better at the craft every week, and being genuinely fun to work with. We’re the youngest team in our world by far. We’re in our 20s running around defense conferences in Usul t-shirts, surrounded by 40 to 60 year olds in suits and military uniforms. People see us as the ambitious AI builders bringing real Silicon Valley energy and modern technology to one of the most traditional industries on earth.

About the role

This role is responsible for designing, building, and executing on the strategic projects that will enable us to hit escape velocity and hyper scale globally connecting every company and government. This is a crazy opportunity for an early career operator/entrepreneur to sit at the center of how to scale a company from early growth stage to IPO.

You’ll help shape strategy, build operational systems from scratch and act as force multiplier with the founders to improve all aspects of the company.

What you’ll do:
  • Own the operating rhythm of the company including stand-ups, offsites, planning cycles, and the connective tissue that keeps a fast-moving team executing in sync

  • Be the CEO's right hand on go-to-market strategy, turning high-level bets into structured plans with owners, timelines, and outcomes

  • Design and execute our global conference and GTM calendar, putting Usul in the right rooms with the right people across the U.S. and 60+ allied nations

  • Vibe-code internal tools and AI-powered workflows to eliminate operational drag and keep us running lean

  • Drive cross-functional execution across sales, product, engineering, and deployment so nothing falls through the cracks as the team 3x's in size

  • Build and run RevOps across our commercial and federal businesses

What we’re looking for
  • 1-5 years of past Chief of Staff/Operating experience

  • Scrappy entrepreneur mindset, bias to action

  • Willingness to move to sf and open to travel

  • Thrives in ambiguity, we don’t have everything figured out - needs to be able to operate in the grey

  • See something do something mindset, team player

About the interview
  • 15-minute screening with Joon (CTO) or Oliver (CPO)

  • 30-minute Culture Fit with Jarren (CEO)

  • On-site work trial in San Francisco

  • Offer!

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
