About the Role 

Freestone is seeking an experienced Client Manager, Director to join our growing San Francisco teamThis individual will work closely with one of the fastest growing advisors at Freestone, and a leader of our San Francisco team, to support clients with complex wealth management needs. We are looking for someone with deep investment experience, strong analytical skills, and the confidence to engage directly with sophisticated clients. The right candidate is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into increased responsibility and leadership. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Investment Analysis 

  • Perform in-depth investment and portfolio analysis for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. 
  • Lead the deployment of investments for new client allocations and manage ongoing portfolio monitoring and account maintenance. 
  • Build and maintain advanced financial models to support complex decision-making, particularly related to equity compensation for founders and senior executives. 
  • Partner with internal investment teams and external COIs on portfolio and tax strategies.

Client Relationship & Project Management  

  • Manage ongoing client relationships, including communication, follow-ups, and strategic initiatives. 
  • Serve as a key point of contact in client meetings, particularly for larger and more complex relationships. 
  • Coordinate workflow across internal teams to ensure timely and accurate execution. 
  • Manage complex financial transactions and processes, including cash flow analysis, budgeting, and bespoke financial reporting. 
  • Provide oversight on practice management within the Advisor Team including developing, organizing, and tracking team projects and seeing them through to successful completion. 

Financial Planning  

  • Create comprehensive financial plans for prospective and existing clients, in addition to taking charge of any future revisions. 
  • Understand the variables needed to refine the analysis of financial plans to capture clients’ goals more accurately. 
  • Serve as primary contact with external COIs to communicate and coordinate goals and strategy for clients. 
  • Integrate tax, investment, cash flow, and estate planning considerations into cohesive strategies. 
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and the Advisor team in executing wealth transfer strategies, asset protection, philanthropic initiatives, and other complex issues. 
  • Customize planning solutions for founders and executives with equity compensation and multi-dimensional financial complexity. 

Meeting Preparation & Proposals 

  • Prepare high-quality client meeting materials, investment analyses, and proposals. 
  • Translate complex financial and investment concepts into clear, client-friendly deliverables. 
  • Participate actively in prospect and client meetings by building proposal allocations, presenting initial financial plans, capturing notes and follow-up items, and executing a successful implementation process for new clients. 

Leadership  

  • Participate in training and mentoring new and junior team members. 
  • Be an engaged culture carrier and play a leadership role in firmwide initiatives. 
  • Promote and ensure respect for client privacy and confidentiality in all matters. 

Experience and Credentials: 

  • CFA or CFP designation or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, economics, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of investment-related experience (e.g., private wealth management, asset management, investment banking, or similar). 
  • Series 65 or 66 license or equivalent required. 
  • Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and modeling capabilities. 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage complexity without losing accuracy. 
  • Growth-oriented and motivated by increasing responsibility. 
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to deepen investment and client-facing expertise. 
  • Thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment and consistently produces high-quality work. 
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • High level of comfort working with high-net-worth individuals. 
  • Exceptional listening, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Time management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple responsibilities, project management, and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
