Who we are

Imagine a world where every young person and their family can access high-quality mental healthcare. Where getting the support they need is the norm, not the exception.

Today, 1 in 5 children in the U.S. has a diagnosable mental health disorder, yet about half who need care never receive it.

At Handspring, we’re working to make that a reality. As a virtual mental health clinic for children, teens, and young adults, we’ve set out to rebuild this system from the ground up.

We’re building a diverse, mission-driven team dedicated to making quality mental healthcare accessible to all young people and their families. If you share our mission, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

We’re hiring a Clinical Operations Associate - Provider Onboarding.

This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage, mission-driven organization dedicated to transforming behavioral healthcare for young people. You will be an integral part of the Clinical Operations team and work closely with our Clinical Services, Product, and other teams across Handspring.

In this role, you’ll own the provider onboarding experience. You’ll be the first point of contact for newly hired providers, welcoming them to Handspring, orienting them to our systems and workflows, and making sure they’re set up to deliver high-quality care to families from day one.

Handspring is growing quickly, and we’re building a provider onboarding process that can keep pace. You’ll be the owner of that process: identifying where it can be better, pitching solutions, and partnering with teammates across Clinical Operations and the broader organization to make those improvements happen. While onboarding will be your primary focus, our Clinical Operations team works collaboratively, and you’ll also contribute to team-wide projects.

We’re looking for a proactive, organized operator who loves building processes and helping people succeed. The right candidate is tech-savvy, a clear communicator and confident trainer, and comfortable writing process documentation and training materials. You’re excited about our mission and energized by the challenge of building something that scales.

What you’ll do

Day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Provider Onboarding

  • Own the onboarding experience for newly hired providers, from their first day through their first weeks seeing patients

  • Welcome new providers and serve as a primary point of contact during onboarding, answering questions and resolving issues quickly

  • Lead orientation and training sessions on Handspring’s clinical systems and workflows, including our EHR, scheduling system, and provider portal

  • Coordinate onboarding logistics such as system access, account setup, and required documentation, partnering with other teams so providers are ready to see patients on time

  • Track each new provider’s progress through onboarding and proactively flag and resolve blockers

  • Oversee the Credentialing Specialist to keep new provider credentialing on schedule and resolve delays

Process Ownership & Scaling

  • Own Handspring’s provider onboarding process and continuously evaluate how well it’s working for new providers and the teams who support them

  • Identify bottlenecks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement as we scale

  • Develop and pitch solutions, such as new workflows, automation, self-serve resources, or cohort-based training

  • Collaborate with the Clinical Operations team and cross-functional partners, including Clinical Services and Product, to implement and roll out improvements

  • Define and track onboarding metrics (e.g., time to first session, training completion, provider satisfaction) to measure success and guide decisions

Training & Documentation

  • Create, maintain, and improve training materials, guides, and process documentation for new providers

  • Collect and synthesize feedback from new providers and clinical leaders to refine the onboarding and training experience

  • Keep training content current as our systems and workflows evolve

Cross-Functional Clinical Operations Support

  • Provide direct support for both providers and patients/families when challenges and questions related to clinical systems arise, escalating as needed

  • Collaborate with the broader clinical operations team to contribute to projects and tasks that aim to improve provider and patient experience

Who we’re looking for

  • You have 3+ years of experience in clinical operations, ideally at an early-stage digital health company

  • You’ve owned a process end-to-end and improved it, ideally during a period of rapid growth

  • You’re a great communicator who makes complex systems feel approachable, and you’re comfortable pitching ideas, building buy-in, and driving projects across technical, clinical, and operational teams

  • You’re a resourceful, organized systems thinker. You identify where things break down, get to the root cause, and design solutions that scale, all while juggling multiple onboarding cohorts and priorities with calm and clarity.

  • You’re excited about being part of an early-stage, mission-driven healthcare organization

  • You're comfortable navigating systems like EHRs, provider portals, scheduling tools, CRM platforms, Zoom, Slack, Notion, and Google Workspace

Position details

  • Full-time, remote position

  • Must be able to work 10am–6pm Pacific Time

  • The salary range is $70K–80K, plus Handspring equity

  • Comprehensive health benefits and generous paid time off

  • You must be based in the United States and have U.S. work authorization

Compensation and benefits

  • Full-time, remote position

  • Must be able to work 10am–6pm Pacific Time

We kindly ask that you don’t reach out to team members. We’ll reach out to candidates as we move through the review process.
