About the company

Our client is a fast-growing software company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines for a small product team as its sole infrastructure engineer. The work covers release automation, cloud security, infrastructure as code, monitoring and cost efficiency, all as a hands-on individual contributor who builds and runs the systems directly.

What you'll do

- Design, refactor and maintain build and deployment pipelines for several applications and internal workflows across two cloud environments.

- Set up cloud architecture and security controls, including access policies, network isolation, encryption, secrets handling, logging and automated vulnerability management.

- Partner with the technical lead and a small engineering group to provide reliable, observable and easily reversible releases.

- Codify environments as infrastructure definitions, and put in place observability, paging, data protection and outage playbooks across development, staging and production.

- Set up networking and access for internal compute resources so engineers can use them independently.

- Improve performance, availability and cloud cost efficiency, and support customer security reviews with documented controls and evidence.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- 2 to 5 years of hands-on cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering or site reliability experience.

- Experience designing and running production CI/CD and deployment pipelines.

- A hands-on history of creating a cloud environment in a young company or compact group, not just inheriting one.

- Experience operating production systems on AWS, including compute, networking, identity, storage and databases.

- Infrastructure as code experience in production with a common tool.

- Comfort working independently and owning work end to end on a fast-moving team.

Bonus points

- Experience with government cloud or other regulated cloud environments with strict compliance requirements.

- Broader security expertise, for example writing security policies, offensive testing or vulnerability research.
