Commercial Finance Manager
• Location: Santa Rosa, CA; San Jose, CA; Chandler, Arizona; or Germantown, Maryland.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Position Description:

VIAVI are seeking an experienced Commercial Finance Manager with experience in US Government contracts.

As a Commercial Finance manager, you will help drive profitable top-line growth by providing strategic financial insight and aligning financial goals with commercial operations and OSP business unit. This role requires strong modeling skills, strong leadership, and the ability to translate complex data for executive decision-making. Key responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, margin analysis, and managing stakeholder relationships to optimize financial performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Commercial Partnership: Collaborates with commercial teams to optimize pricing, product portfolio and product profitability to increase revenue.
  • Pricing & Negotiation: Lead bid strategies, develop cost proposals, and negotiate contract terms to maximize revenue while mitigating risk.
  • Financial Modeling: Builds and manages robust financial models, portfolio analytics and dashboards to support decision-making.
  • Reporting: Prepares, analyzes, and presents financial performance reports (KPIs, Pricing dashboards, scorecards) to the Board and executive leadership.
  • Team Leadership: Mentors and manages the finance team, fostering accountability and accuracy. 
  • Planning & Forecasting: Leads annual budgeting, long-range planning, and monthly/quarterly forecasting of revenue and expenses; with high forecast accuracy expectations ~95%
  • Performance Analysis: Identifies trends and performance drivers vs. budgets, evaluate low margin products an partner with peers to improve profitability, providing actionable insights for business improvement.
  • Compliance & Audit: Interpret federal/state regulations, ensure strict adherence to FAR/CAS, and support government audits.

Critical Success Factors:

You will have a strong background and understanding of key accounting, financial analysis, and benchmarking and variance analysis in a fast paced, ever changing technology environment that requires strong analytical skills; together with the ability to produce coherent and succinct management reporting and analysis.

You will have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills as this role requires collaboration across many functions and stakeholders across all levels of VIAVI.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably a major in accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other financial certifications would be preferred.
  • Candidate must possess excellent financial and business analysis, systems skills. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential.
  • Familiarity with Oracle/SAP, Hyperion Planning, Essbase, MS Access desirable

98,000

to

182,000
