Role Description

We’re looking for an Operations Lead to act as a bridge between the Office of the CEO (OCEO) and Dropbox’s business units, helping operationalize our company-wide business rhythms with rigor, clarity, and consistency.

Dropbox is an operationally heavy company; we believe that sweating the details of how work gets done drives better results. This role sits at the center of that philosophy. While there are known operating rhythms and mechanisms to support (e.g., planning, roadmapping, launch, QBRs, Board processes), the exact scope of this role will evolve based on where leverage is most needed. We’re looking for someone who can step into ambiguity, identify friction or gaps, and independently shape high-impact solutions.

This is an individual-contributor role requiring comfort working with executive leaders, Chiefs of Staff, embedded operational teams, and EPD partners. The ideal candidate is scrappy, detail-oriented, and systems-minded — someone who can quickly build context, earn trust, and drive clarity in complex environments.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Chiefs of Staff and embedded operational teams to support and strengthen company-wide operating rhythms
  • Act as operational “glue” identify inefficiencies, reduce duplication, and build scalable workflows, systems, and mechanisms that lower operational overhead while preserving rigor
  • Uphold and reinforce the quality bar for executive-facing deliverables, including strategic plans, business reviews, board-ready materials, and in-quarter execution updates
  • Distill complex processes and expectations into simple, concise guidance and resources accessible to all employees
  • Enable Dropboxers at all levels to operate effectively within company frameworks through training, resources, and hands-on support
  • Pilot and iterate on improvements to company-wide operating mechanisms, incorporating feedback and learning along the way
  • Lead ad hoc projects in support of the CEO’s top priorities, owning work end-to-end from inception to delivery
  • Represent the CEO’s vision and priorities in cross-functional contexts while building strong, trusted relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain composure while operating in a fast-moving, evolving environment
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in operations, program management, business operations, product operations, consulting, or similar roles in complex, cross-functional environments
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity and independently define scope where it does not yet exist
  • Proven experience building, improving, or scaling operational systems, processes, or program management frameworks
  • Strong attention to detail paired with the judgment to know where rigor matters most
  • Ability to move quickly, make sound judgment calls, and adapt in real time without sacrificing quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience synthesizing complex information into clear, executive-ready outputs, as well as creating simple, concise resources accessible to all employees
  • High degree of ownership and independence; able to navigate ambiguity, influence without authority, and drive work to completion across organizational boundaries
  • Scrappy and resourceful, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves while also thinking systemically
  • Collaborative, team-first mindset with a strong desire to help the broader organization succeed
  • Proven ability to remain calm, thoughtful, and effective in high-pressure or high-visibility situations
  • High integrity and strong judgment when handling confidential or sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a SAAS company, working on roadmapping, launch planning, or in product operations

Dropbox San Francisco, California, USA Office

Though remote is our primary way of working, meaningful in-person connection and collaboration is a critical part of Virtual First. Our San Francisco Studio is a place for teams to come together to host meetings, off-sites, and build community.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
