Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

At Oura, our mission is to empower every person to own their inner potential. With our award-winning Oura Ring and app, we help millions of people turn insights about sleep, activity, and readiness into healthier, more balanced lives. We believe that starts from within — by creating a culture where our team feels supported, included, and inspired to do their best work. Our values guide how we show up for each other and our community every day.

We have offices in San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles for those who prefer hybrid or office settings. ŌURA employees in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations.

We are looking for a Compliance Engineer to join our Hardware team. In this role, you will be the primary driver for global regulatory certifications, ensuring our wearable technology meets the highest standards of safety and compliance from early design through market launch.

What you will do:

  • Drive "Design for Compliance" initiatives from start to finish, collaborating cross-functionally with Hardware and Firmware Engineering teams to integrate regulatory requirements into the product development lifecycle.
  • Conduct and oversee in-house and third-party compliance testing, validation efforts, and deep-dive analysis of complex regulatory issues.
  • Manage relationships and project timelines with external regulatory test labs and agencies to drive global certifications to completion for New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Navigate global product safety and regulatory standards (FCC, ISED, EU, etc.) to ensure seamless market access and sustaining compliance for existing products.
  • Partner closely with OEM and ODM partners to ensure manufacturing processes align with Oura’s rigorous compliance and quality standards.
  • Independently establish structure and clarity within the compliance function, proactively identifying critical path dependencies that could impact launch timelines.

This is a hybrid role out of our San Francisco office.

Requirements We would love to consider you for this role if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Compliance specifically within the consumer electronics industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of global regulatory standards including FCC, ISED, and EU/CE requirements.
  • Proven experience working directly with 3rd party labs and managing OEM/ODM compliance relationships.
  • Deep understanding of the hardware product development lifecycle (PDL) and its impact on certification timelines.
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize competing business needs and communicate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide Certification updates and maintain the internal certification database.
  • Prepare and maintain test samples for engineering validation and testing.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to establish structure in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits At Oura, we care about you and your well-being. Everyone here at Oura has a ring of their own and we are continually looking to improve employee health.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary and equity packages
  • Health, dental, vision insurance, and mental health resources
  • An Oura Ring of your own plus employee discounts for friends & family
  • 20 days of paid time off plus 13 paid holidays plus 8 days of flexible wellness time off
  • Paid sick leave and parental leave

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Region 1 (SF):  $172,000 - $203,000

We are not considering candidates residing in the following states: Alaska (AK), Delaware (DE), Iowa (IA), Mississippi (MS), Nebraska (NE), South Dakota (SD), West Virginia (WV), and Wisconsin (WI).
