Change.org is searching for a Conservative Media Relations Strategist to build and promote Change.org campaigns and our organizational strategy with conservative media. You will elevate the message and stories that drive brand awareness and affinity with key conservative audiences, including top tier conservative editors, producers, bookers, journalists, writers, podcast hosts and influencers

Key Outcomes: 

  • Build strong relationships with conservative media.
  • Consistently land top-tier conservative media placements for Change.org campaigns, new Change.org products, and the broader organization’s impact. 
  • Collaborate and coordinate with teams on US campaigns, media strategies and opportunities.  

The most important core competencies for the role are: 

  • Extensive and active network across conservative media, including producers, editors, journalists, influencers, bookers, and podcast hosts.
  • A proven ability to secure high-profile conservative and mainstream media coverage.
  • Ability to spot a high potential story across a large volume of user generated content (i.e. strong conservative campaigns on the Change.org platform that will be of interest to media) 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, demonstrating clarity, persuasion, and effectiveness across diverse channels. 
  • Deep and current understanding of the evolving conservative media landscape, with strategic insights into the most influential and relevant channels to amplify our brand and message. 

Target experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years experience within conservative media, strategic communications or public relations.
  • Track record of engaging influential conservative media that reach a national scale of conservative audiences.
  • Proven results landing top tier conservative media coverage.
  • Experience working at a conservative outlet is a plus.
  • Experience with outreach and storytelling on social media is a plus.
  • Experience leveraging AI for media outreach is a plus.

This is a full time remote role in the United States.

We know great talent comes in many forms. We’re open to hiring this role at various individual contributor levels. The title, scope, and compensation will be aligned with the experience and skills of the selected candidate. As a general guide:

  • The annual salary of a Conservative Media Relations Strategist is $150,000 in San Francisco/NYC, $142,500 in Austin, Boston, Chicago, DC, LA, Seattle, and is $127,500 in all other US locations. 
  • Candidates with 10 years of experience and notably unique skills may qualify for the Senior Conservative Media Relations Strategist for which compensation is  $186,000 in San Francisco/NYC, $176,500 in Austin, Boston, Chicago, DC, LA, Seattle, and is $158,000 in all other US locations.

We do not negotiate, and our compensation philosophy is to ensure pay equity. All of our salaries are determined before we launch a role and based on a predetermined salary scale, the level on that scale, and the cost of labor for that location.
