JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Content & Training Specialist supports Clinical Support teams by developing, curating, and managing educational and operational content. This role designs and delivers training, supports quality assurance initiatives, and collaborates across departments to optimize workflows and promote consistency in clinical support operations. This role is ideal for a board-certified genetic counselor with genetic testing laboratory leadership experience who is passionate about operational excellence, education, and process improvement; the scope may evolve as organizational needs change. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Curate, maintain, and update internal clinical reference materials, including SOPs, quick reference guides, and workflow documentation. 

• Develop educational and operational content to support onboarding and ongoing training of clinical team members. 

• Deliver virtual, hybrid, or in-person training sessions for clinical teams, including genetic counselors, genetic counselor assistants, and support staff. 

• Assess training effectiveness and identify opportunities for retraining, workflow reinforcement, or process improvement. 

• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to support audit readiness, documentation updates, and corrective or preventive actions. 

• Serve as a clinical stakeholder in cross-functional projects, including workflow optimization and system improvement initiatives. 

• Assist in managing clinical process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce error rates, and support scalability. 

• Educate and support trainees, including new clinical team members. 

• Partner with laboratory and clinical teams to ensure training materials and workflow documentation reflect current operational standards. 

• Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives and comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 8 to 10+ years of experience in a clinical genetic testing laboratory

• Master of Science or Master of Arts in Genetic Counseling from an ACGC-accredited program or equivalent. 

• Board certified or board eligible in Genetic Counseling by ABMGG or ABGC. 

• Must be eligible to work in the United States without restrictions. 

• In-depth knowledge of clinical and laboratory genetics. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts. 

• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail to support content accuracy and workflow documentation. 

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across laboratory and clinical teams. 

• Understanding of regulatory and quality standards relevant to genetic testing laboratories, such as CLIA and CAP. 

• Proficiency with learning management systems, document management tools, and general computer applications. 

• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred:

• Experience developing or delivering clinical training content in a laboratory, healthcare, or operational setting. 

• Experience supporting quality assurance, audit readiness, documentation updates, or corrective and preventive actions. 

• Experience contributing to workflow improvement, process optimization, or cross-functional system enhancement initiatives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Location: Remote

• Physical demands: Frequently required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; frequently required to use visual acuity for reading technical materials, reviewing documents, and working on a computer.

• Work environment: Primarily office or remote work environment with collaboration across clinical, laboratory, quality, and operational teams.

• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel or onsite attendance may be required for training, meetings, or operational needs.

• Special conditions: Occasional exposure to laboratory environments or biohazard materials depending on operational needs.
