Role Description

We’re looking for an experienced content designer to help improve and innovate on our core product experience—the foundations of Dropbox. You’ll craft content strategy and UX writing for features that help millions of people do amazing work every day.

The role is on the newly centralized Content Design team within the Writing Studio, which is responsible for the quality, consistency, and excellence of writing across the company.

While having regular touchpoints with other content designers, you’ll embed on the Core Experience Design team. You’ll join the design team’s meetings and design crits, and work closely with product designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, and more.

On Core Experience, you’ll own content design for key areas of our product like feature adoption, quality improvements, and customer retention. You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining consistent language across web, mobile, and desktop platforms, making Dropbox feel seamless and easy to use.

Responsibilities

  • Own the content strategy and UX writing across core Dropbox features
  • Deliver high-quality UX writing for menus, onboarding, settings, and core user flows
  • Translate complex concepts into friendly, easy-to-understand experiences
  • Align your work to business goals, user needs, and our style guides
  • Create, maintain, and socialize content guidelines
  • Craft content informed by user feedback, metrics, technical constraints, localization, and accessibility
  • Partner closely with product designers, engineers, product managers, researchers, and other stakeholders
  • Prioritize across a broad range of needs to focus on the highest impact projects
  • Workshop with a first-class team of content designers, improving your work and raising the quality bar for Content Design
  • Collaborate with product marketers and other partners to align messaging

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional writing experience, including 3+ years focused on in-product content
  • A knack for crafting end-to-end experiences and translating technical talk into people speak (we like humans)
  • Experience following and creating writing style guidelines
  • Experience writing for mobile apps and/or across platforms
  • Skill in prioritizing with competing projects and stakeholders
  • Experience partnering with designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers
  • A portfolio of content design (please include this with your application)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on onboarding and cancellation flows
  • Experience iterating on a mature product
  • Passion for building team culture
  • Skill in demonstrating the impact of Content Design

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
