About Mytra:

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

About the role

We are looking for a business-minded Corporate Counsel, Commercial to join our Legal team as the second attorney, reporting directly to the General Counsel. This role carries broad responsibility across commercial contracting, product and regulatory counseling, legal operations, and intellectual property. You will serve as a trusted partner to our Engineering, Product, Supply Chain, Partnerships, Sales and Finance teams—providing practical, solutions-oriented legal guidance that keeps the business moving without unnecessary friction.

This is a high-impact, high-autonomy position with a clear path to advancement. The right candidate will help define how autonomous robotics systems are safely deployed at scale, shaping not just Mytra’s risk posture but the emerging legal framework for warehouse robotics and AI-driven logistics.

What you’ll do:

Commercial Contract Negotiation (~50%)

  • Own end-to-end drafting, review, and negotiation of the full range of commercial agreements, including master services agreements, vendor and supplier contracts, SOWs, NDAs, channel and reseller agreements, and customer terms.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve contract templates, playbooks, and clause libraries to accelerate deal velocity and ensure consistency.
  • Partner with Sales, Partnerships, and Supply Chain teams to advise on deal structure, commercial terms, and risk allocation early in the process.
  • Support strategic partnership negotiations, including co-development arrangements, system-integration agreements, and go-to-market collaborations.
  • Advise on data collection, data ownership, and AI training-data practices, ensuring compliance with applicable privacy and data-protection laws.
  • Assist with corporate governance tasks, entity management, and board-related materials as needed.

Legal Operations & Governance (~25%)

  • Build and refine scalable legal processes, workflows, and self-service tools that enable internal teams to move faster with appropriate guardrails.
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, and rollout of a contract lifecycle management (CLM) platform, including workflow configuration, template migration, and user training.
  • Develop internal training materials and conduct cross-functional education sessions on legal topics most relevant to the business (e.g., contract basics, NDA handling, data-privacy essentials).
  • Assist in managing outside counsel and contractor relationships, budgets, and work-product quality for specialized matters.

Product & Regulatory Counseling (~20%)

  • Serve as a pragmatic advisor to Engineering and Product teams on regulatory requirements, safety standards, and product-liability considerations applicable to autonomous robotic systems and AI-driven products.
  • Monitor and advise on evolving regulatory regimes relevant to robotics, AI, data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), and international trade, including export-control classifications.
  • Support product launches by identifying legal and compliance requirements and coordinating timely clearance across stakeholders.

Intellectual Property & Licensing Review (~5%)

  • Draft and negotiate inbound and outbound software licensing, data licensing, API, and open-source agreements.
  • Advise on IP ownership provisions in commercial and employment agreements, and coordinate with outside patent and trademark counsel as needed.
  • Support due-diligence efforts related to intellectual property in connection with strategic transactions.
Ideal Candidates
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (California Bar membership or eligibility to register as California Registered In-House Counsel preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with a strong emphasis on commercial transactions and technology law. A combination of top-tier law-firm training and in-house experience at a high-growth technology or robotics company is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
  • Practical understanding of privacy and data-protection frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their application in commercial contracts.
  • Experience building or significantly improving legal operations processes, templates, or tools in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment, strong analytical skills, and the ability to frame complex legal issues succinctly for business stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • A collaborative, low-ego working style with a bias toward action and practical problem-solving.
Nice to have:
  • Experience advising on safety-critical or highly regulated products (e.g., robotics, autonomous vehicles, medical devices, industrial automation).
  • Familiarity with robotics safety standards (e.g., ISO 10218 and 13849, ANSI/RIA R15.06 and R15.08) or product-liability frameworks for autonomous physical systems.
  • Background in AI/ML data licensing, training-data agreements, or Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) commercial structures.
  • Experience with export-control regulations (EAR/ITAR) or international trade compliance.
  • CIPP/US or other privacy certification.
  • Prior experience implementing a CLM platform or similar legal-technology solution.
