Job Description

Primary Function of Position

The Corporate Development Director - Digital Product role leads corporate development for Intuitive’s Digital business unit, translating the Digital strategy into external growth opportunities. The role owns the transaction lifecycle—from sourcing and evaluation through negotiation, closing, and integration planning—across strategic equity investments, partnerships, co-marketing and co-development agreements, in- and out-licensing, and M&A. Success requires close partnership with Digital, Strategy, Finance, Legal, and other business leaders to advance Intuitive’s technology platforms, products, and long-term strategic position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Lead cross-functional evaluation of external technology opportunities for strategic, commercial, and product fit with Intuitive’s Digital business.
•    Own transactions end to end, including outreach, business cases, structuring, negotiation, due diligence, contracting, integration planning, and closing.
•    Partner with product and technology teams to understand roadmaps, priorities, capability gaps, and external development needs.
•    Partner with Strategy, Finance, and business leaders to shape and execute M&A strategy for Digital technologies.
•    Represent Intuitive’s strategic interests externally and provide senior leaders and the Board with deal updates, recommendations, risks, and decisions required.
•    Manage post-transaction partner relationships to support strategic objectives, governance, and integration or collaboration plans.
•    Keep stakeholders informed of transaction status, partner relationships, key risks, upcoming decisions, and required actions.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Core Competencies, Skills and Experience Requirements

•    Ten (10+) or more years of professional experience, seven (7) or more years’ experience within the medical device, life sciences industry, or technology. 
•    Experience developing or selling healthcare data analytics products preferred.
•    Prior work experience must be in finance, investing or other relevant discipline
•    Prior transactional experience including required. Prior experience in corporate business development is strongly preferred.  
•    Proven track record of advancement within the medical device, life sciences or investing industry.
•    Keen business intuition, results orientation, negotiation skills and demonstrated interest in advancing a business’ strategic position through business development activities. 
•    Strong detail-orientation, as well as the ability to interact with several internal functions and build a consensus from a varied group of departments and individuals.   
•    Ability to achieve significant objectives and drive major projects, with limited authority.  Outstanding teamwork and influence-management skills with the ability to successfully work with others at all levels 
•    Strong leadership skills, and the business maturity, intellect and integrity required to establish immediate credibility with external constituencies.  
•    Analytic thinker who approaches problems logically without getting lost in the detail or suffering from “analysis/paralysis”.
•    Ability to develop market and financial models.
•    Results oriented, with the ability to lead a project from its very early inception, and to motivate all players, internal and external, to bring the project to a mutually beneficial completion.  
•    Sustainable ability to work under tight deadlines and to remain focused on objectives whether deadline pressure is on or off.
•    Outstanding communication skills, including orally, in writing or presentation format.  Ability to appropriately modify communications depending upon the audience.
•    Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
•    Self-motivation driven by the desire to make an impact on the long-term success of the business.
•    Ability to travel, averaging 10 – 20% overall.  However, monthly travel may range from 0% to 50%.

Education and Training Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree with clinical and/or healthcare industry experience, MBA or Ph.D. preferred.

Compensation will be based primarily on the job level at which the role is filled and the
candidate’s qualifications, consistent with applicable law.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target base compensation ranges are listed.
