Introduction to Our Team:

The Product Finance team, a vital part of Corporate Planning and Management (CPM), is the financial backbone for all firm-wide non-compensation expenses. We provide financial decision support, rigorous expense management, and robust control, ensuring every dollar is strategically allocated. Our primary functions encompass accounting and financial control, in-depth financial analysis, proactive business unit support, and astute commercial management. We are a diverse team of professionals with analytical mindsets and intellectual curiosity. 

In This Role, You Will

Be a Strategic Partner: Collaborate regularly with various functions and divisions across the firm, working independently and interacting with senior professionals on global initiatives. 

Become a Financial Expert: Master monthly financial closes, conduct balance sheet analysis, and deliver insightful financial reporting and analysis for non-compensation expenses. This includes managing budgets, forecasts, and accounting schedules for crucial areas across Non-Compensation expenses. You will also be responsible for budget governance, ensuring adherence to financial policies and efficient expense management.

 Drive Efficiency and Control: Strengthen internal controls by reviewing existing policies & proposing new ones, leading financial/operational reporting to enhance transparency, and managing operating expenses to drive cost efficiencies. 

Influence Decision-Making: Analyze financial and operational data from global projects, presenting findings clearly to enable effective decision-making by senior management. 

Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Apply US GAAP in financial reporting. Evaluate accounting treatment of Non-Compensation expenses in accordance with US GAAP. 

Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements related to financial reporting and internal controls. Innovate and Improve: Drive the improvement and automation of current processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control. 

Basic Qualifications: 

• Finance Professional experience – Chartered Accountant/MBA

• 2-3 years of relevant experience 

• MS Office skills – Advanced MS Excel knowledge, basic proficiency on MS PowerPoint. 

• Clear and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. Experience of working in a global setup will be of advantage

• Strong networking skills to establish contacts and partnerships with other teams in Goldman Sachs

• Impeccable attention to detail 

• Ability to organize own time and work independently, without close supervision 

• Courage to challenge current practice and suggest new ways of working, value-added ideas/ approaches 

• Ability to work in a team-based environment and to interface with employees at all levels 

• Flexibility to adapt and perform in a dynamic and evolving organization 

• Demonstrated data literacy, including the ability to interpret, analyze, and communicate insights from complex datasets. 

• Proficiency with BI/data prep tools (e.g., Alteryx) and modern data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), plus foundational AI literacy to leverage generative/chat tools would be considered a strong asset
