This is Adyen

Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.

For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

Corporate Tax Manager - US & International Tax

A tax professional bringing deep US & international expertise to our Amsterdam-based global direct tax & transfer pricing team. Rather than operating in a North American silo, you will act as an integrated global player, contributing US and international input to our overarching strategy while managing the day-to-day North American direct tax position.

Because Adyen operates via a US branch, a core focus of this role involves partnering directly with Head Office to determine Effectively Connected Income (ECI) and apply profit attribution rules for Permanent Establishments of banks, rather than traditional transfer pricing.

You will serve as the strategic bridge between the North American business and HQ, implementing scalable frameworks for continued expansion. You will report to the Global Head of Direct Tax & Transfer Pricing and partner closely with the team.

What you’ll do
  • Co-shape our global tax position: Contribute subject matter expertise to the development of global tax and transfer pricing frameworks through cross-regional projects.
  • Drive North American Tax Operations: drive the federal corporate income and withholding tax strategy, ensuring full alignment with global policies while acting as the primary regional point of contact for tax authorities.
  • Execute Branch Profit Attribution: Partner with global teams to implement and manage US branch PE profit attribution strategies and maintain robust documentation.
  • Advise on Product Innovation: Proactively embed tax strategy into the launch of new financial products and payment solutions by assessing local and international tax implications. You will also be driving US R&D credits.
  • Monitor Tax Legislation: Track and address changes in US, Canadian, and international tax legislation that impact the business.
  • Drive Audit Defense: Manage North American federal tax audits and serve as the primary transfer pricing contact in close coordination with HQ.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Translate complex tax concepts into actionable business insights for Product, Finance, Legal, and Country Managers.
Who you are
  • Global & Local Expertise: 6+ years of proven experience in US corporate tax, international tax and transfer pricing, branch taxation, and PE profit attribution. Preferably you have experience with banking and taxation of banking branches. Knowledge on intersection between State and Local Tax and Federal tax is preferred.
  • Strategic Partner: You view tax as a strategic enabler, identifying opportunities to align compliance with fintech innovation.
  • Tech Mindset: You thrive in a rapidly changing digital economy; in-house experience at a financial institution or tech platform is a major plus. You love to automate processes.
  • Collaborative & Autonomous: You are a go-getter who takes total ownership of your work, but excels at partnering with the team and our SALT Manager.
  • Scope Expansion: open to expanding scope over time e.g. to sales tax as well or global corporate tax or transfer pricing projects
Total rewards & compensation

The annual base salary range for this role is $145,000 - $195,000. Compensation is based on factors including qualifications, experience, and location. Total compensation package includes equity (RSUs), 401(k), health, dental, vision, and more.

In-office expectations

This role is based in our San Francisco office. We're an office-first company and expect employees to work in-office at least 3 days a week on average. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while also supporting flexibility.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Adyen

We actively seek different perspectives to sharpen our ideas. Our unique culture is a product of our diverse backgrounds and experiences. No matter who you are or where you’re from, you’re welcome to be your true self at Adyen.

Our interview process tends to take about 4 weeks to complete, but may fluctuate depending on the role. If you have specific time constraints, please communicate them with your recruiter, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them where possible.
