The Cost Accounting Specialist is responsible for full-cycle accounting duties, investment analysis, OPEX budget management, and month-end close.​

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Assist with month-end close and financial reports 
  • Manage and assist budgets for all departments 
  • Assist managers with yearly/long-term business planning 
  • Monitor intercompany transactions and perform reconciliation as needed 
  • Handle Warranty Allowance 
  • Prepare quarterly inventory valuation 
  • Assist external auditors with quarterly and annual audits by providing requested information 
  • Product Life Cycle profitability management for new models 
  • Prompt, regular, predictable attendance 
  • Physical presence at work during all scheduled work hours  
  • Overtime and weekend work as required 
  • Required to work with, handle, store, or otherwise manage hazardous materials, and must comply with all applicable regulations established by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). 
  • Responsibilities include ensuring safe and compliant management of hazardous materials in accordance with state and federal regulatory requirements. 
  • May be required to participate in training for handling of hazardous materials. 
  • All other job duties as assigned

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required

Required Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
  • Ability to organize and to manage multiple projects simultaneously  
  • Ability to research, evaluate, and resolve problems  
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel 

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience in Finance or Accounting field 
  • Manufacturing costing experience
  • SAP experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

Working Conditions:

  • 100% of work in office environment 
  • Overtime as needed for monthly closing
