This role is based in our San Francisco, CA office and requires regular in-office presence in accordance with company policy.

Who You Are

Fellow is looking for a Creative Director to translate the essence of our brand into a Creative Vision that brings to life our brand identity across every internal and external touchpoint. The Creative Director will drive the brand’s success by leading the visioning, development, and execution of inspiring and aspirational creative, marketing, content, and packaging that reflects the brand’s clear point of view.

A successful candidate will possess an excellent visual aesthetic, be a strategic thinker and a highly effective operator, able to see the holistic picture, ideate and execute. This is a rare opportunity to shape how one of the most design-forward brands in the consumer goods space shows up across global campaigns, digital, retail, packaging, and beyond.

Reporting to the CMO, you'll lead a talented in-house creative team and serve as the connective tissue between brand strategy and creative execution. You bring a clear point of view, a high creative bar, and the operational instincts to bring big ideas to life—on time, on brand, and with the craft that our customers expect. We are looking for someone who can lead an aspirational brand while remaining agile and scrappy. You'll champion AI, automation, and new ways of working to drive the effectiveness and efficiency of our creative engine.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll set the creative vision and you'll also roll up your sleeves to get it right.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and lead the Creative Vision that brings to life Fellow’s brand identity across all marketing, photography, video, campaigns, product launches, digital, retail, events, packaging, etc.
  • Originate and champion big ideas, concepting campaigns from the ground up and pushing the work beyond the expected
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary in-house creative team including art direction, design, copy, and production
  • Set and uphold a high creative bar. Maintain and evolve Fellow's brand guidelines in partnership with the creative team, ensuring consistency across every expression of the brand. Establish clear creative principles and review work with precision and intention
  • Be a champion and expert for our product differentiators and translate them into effective, compelling marketing
  • Push the organization for more daring, expressive and breakthrough creative
  • Partner closely with the CMO, Product, and Marketing teams to translate brand strategy into compelling creative work for marketing priorities
  • Optimize team structure, workflow, processes and tools to enable the creative team to work efficiently and produce top tier work product while consistently meeting deadlines
  • Transform how the team develops content by championing AI, automation, and new ways of working to drive the effectiveness and efficiency of our creative engine
  • Manage functional budget including annual budget planning, spend tracking, and end of month close out activity
  • Scale Fellow's internal content creation engine. This is a core strategic priority for the business
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of creative experience, 5+ as seasoned Creative Director.
  • A natural conceiver of ideas. You can originate a campaign concept, push a creative brief beyond the obvious, and inspire a team around a vision before a single asset is made
  • Expertise in creative and content development across marketing, digital, retail, product, and packaging
  • Ability to art direct photo, video, and design at a high level—from concept development through execution
  • Strong leadership skills - ability to manage, motivate, and develop internal team and external partners
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator — you bring people along and know how to get alignment without losing creative integrity
  • Excellent operational skills, including planning, budgeting, organizational and project management
  • Scrappy and agile. Able to deliver on big expectations despite limited budget and resources
  • Champion of AI, automation, innovation, and transforming how the team operates
  • Ability to both lead others, while rolling up their sleeve with hands-on work
Why You’ll Love This Role
  • A creative, fast-moving environment where ideas turn into action
  • Competitive compensation including employee equity plan
  • Generous paid time off plan
  • 401k with company contribution after 6 months of employment
