Job Summary & Responsibilities

IEM is searching for a Full Time- Data Analyst and Reporting Specialist to provide data analytics and reporting support to IEM’s Disaster Response and Recovery management and other IEM staff. The Data Analyst and Reporting Specialist is responsible for transforming complex, multi‑source data into accurate, actionable insights that support operational, financial, and executive decision‑making across the organization. This role designs and maintains scalable Power BI data models, dashboards, and reporting solutions while ensuring strong data quality, governance, security, and performance within the BI environment. Working collaboratively with leadership, technical teams, and client stakeholders, the specialist gathers and interprets business requirements, streamlines data processes, and delivers high‑impact analytical tools that enhance organizational visibility and performance.

 

Primary Location: 

  • Live anywhere that meets remote work requirements in the United States including Puerto Rico.   
  • Preference will be given to candidates located in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale, FL. metro area.
  • Work is primarily in personal office location and may require limited onsite support at client sites as needed.

Travel Requirements:

  •  This position may require travel to complete work assignments or attend meetings.

Essential Functions:

  • Architect, design, and support enterprise‑scale Power BI and Microsoft Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Work with large, complex, multi‑source datasets to support operational, financial, and executive reporting.
  • Translate business requirements into data models, semantic layers, dashboards, and analytics solutions.
  • Design and implement data analysis, forecasting, and performance measurement models.
  • Analyze data trends and patterns to deliver actionable insights and decision‑ready reports.
  • Develop dashboards and reports that depict trends across programs, clients, and organizational performance.
  • Review and validate data for quality issues, inconsistencies, and anomalies.
  • Define and enforce data governance, security, and access controls, including row‑level security (RLS).
  • Maintain and oversee Power BI datasets, workspaces, and deployment pipelines to ensure data integrity and performance.
  • Outline and document data requirements and reporting needs for clients, programs, and business initiatives.
  • Gather, analyze and validate stakeholder and end‑user business requirements.
  • Collaborate with client teams, leadership, and internal stakeholders to manage data changes, enhancements, and reporting initiatives.
  • Partner with technical, program management, and development teams to identify scalable data architectures, streamline data processes, and communicate insights, risks, and recommendations.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, best practices, and training to analysts, developers, and business users.
  • Communicate effectively—verbally and in writing—with executive leadership, technical teams, and client stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Power BI and strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, with working knowledge of Visio, Microsoft Project, and Power Platform.
  • Apply strong analytical and consultative skills to solve complex business and data challenges.
  • Remain agile and adaptable when responding to shifting priorities, requirements, and project scopes.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: Three (3) years or more of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or reporting solutions.
  • Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering Microsoft Power BI solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, SQL, DAX, and Power Query.
  • Experience translating business requirements into scalable BI solutions.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, security, and data quality practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure data services and/or Power Platform.
  • Master’s Degree in Data Analytics, IT, or Business Administration.
  • Bilingual: Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience supporting government, public sector, or regulated environments.
  • Experience mentoring analysts or leading BI initiatives.
  • Microsoft certifications (Power BI, Azure, Fabric, or related).
  • Knowledge with FEMA grants portal and FEMA PA/HMGP projects.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint, Visio, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong consultative skills and experience establishing standardized reporting processes.
