Data Analyst, East

Location: United States (Remote – Eastern Time Zone)
Team: Analytics
Reports to: Terry Widger, Data Analyst

About the Role

We’re hiring a Data Analyst to join a small, high-impact analytics team that helps the business deeply understand user behavior and make informed product and business decisions through data. This team operates with a high degree of autonomy and technical rigor, building an analytics function that scales alongside a fast-growing, complex product.

In this role, you’ll primarily partner with US-based Product Managers while also collaborating with Technical Account Managers, Marketing, Field Engineering, and other teams that rely on analytics to solve business problems. You’ll serve as the dedicated analytics partner for specific product squads—becoming the domain expert in their data, usage patterns, and measurement strategy. Product development moves quickly at Monte Carlo, so your work will directly and immediately influence what gets built.

What You’ll Do
  • Product partnership and analytics ownership: Act as the aligned analytics partner for specific product squads; become the expert in what can be tracked, how users behave, which datasets matter, and how to translate business hypotheses into rigorous analytics and clear, actionable insights

  • Dashboards, reporting, and visibility: Build intuitive dashboards, trackers, and visualizations in tools such as Looker, Mixpanel, and Fullstory; create easy-to-digest reporting that Product, TAM, and business teams rely on daily to support decision-making and operational workflows

  • Data modeling and analytics foundations: Build and maintain dbt models that aggregate core product usage data; improve data usability, trustworthiness, and accessibility across teams; develop a deep understanding of Monte Carlo’s data, how it is collected, and how it should be interpreted—while partnering cross-functionally to steward best practices in analytics and product measurement

You’re a Fit If You Have
  • 1–3 years of experience as a Data Analyst or Product Analyst, with demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and actionable insights

  • Strong SQL skills and analytical problem-solving ability, with familiarity using at least one modern BI tool (Looker preferred but not required)

  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience) emphasizing analytical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and data-driven decision-making

  • Comfort working autonomously in a fast-paced, remote, and async environment, with curiosity and motivation to continuously expand your technical and analytical skill set

Nice to Have
  • Hands-on experience with dbt, analyzing user or product behavior, and working with the modern data stack

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $[Range] + equity

  • Full benefits, generous PTO, parental leave, and wellness support

  • Remote-friendly culture with team offsites and learning & development budget

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
