Job Description:

CSI is hiring a Data Scientist to join the Data and AI team. You will work alongside senior team members to build, validate, and deploy machine learning models that help community banks and credit unions better serve their account holders through targeted customer intelligence, behavioral prediction, and
personalized engagement.

This role is for someone with strong applied ML fundamentals who is ready to take ownership of well scoped modeling projects under the technical direction of senior contributors. You will grow into independent ownership of predictive workstreams over time, with explicit mentorship support and clear
progression toward more senior individual contributor roles.

What You'll Do

  • Build and deploy machine learning models for customer segmentation, propensity scoring, and behavioral prediction in partnership with senior data scientists
  • Own data exploration, feature engineering, and model validation for assigned modeling projects, with regular code review and technical guidance from the senior team
  • Partner with MLOps engineers to deploy models to production and ensure ongoing performance through monitoring and retraining
  • Contribute to evaluation frameworks and success metrics that connect model outputs to client business outcomes
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and data engineering peers on cross-functional initiatives
  • Document modeling work clearly for internal stakeholders, financial institution clients, and compliance review
  • Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and team learning sessions to grow technical breadth and depth
  • Support analytical work and dashboards that translate model outputs into actionable insights for clients

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in applied machine learning, data science, or analytical engineering roles, with at least 1 year in production-grade modeling work
  • Strong proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit-learn) and SQL for data analysis and modeling
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning techniques including classification and regression, and familiarity with common modeling pitfalls in customer behavioral data
  • Hands-on experience with at least one cloud-based ML platform (AWS preferred, but GCP or Azure acceptable)
  • Demonstrated ability to take a modeling project from problem framing through validation independently
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a quantitative field
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical work for non-technical audiences

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, MLOps tooling, or model deployment patterns
  • Experience with experimental design, A/B testing, or causal inference
  • Prior internship or co-op experience with applied ML in industry
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Domo, Tableau, Power BI) for communicating model outputs to stakeholders
