OptionMetrics are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator with a strong background in managing MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and optimizing SQL queries, designing complex stored procedures, and ensuring the efficient installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of PostgreSQL. Additionally, knowledge and experience with Amazon AWS services and proficiency with Git/GitHub are desired. The successful DBA candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of our databases.
 
This position is able to be remote in the United States or hybrid, working out of our NYC or Miami, Florida office.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and administer MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their stability, availability, and performance.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data efficiently, improving system performance and response times.
  • Design and maintain complex stored procedures, triggers, and views to meet business requirements, ensuring data consistency and integrity.
  • Install, configure, and monitor PostgreSQL databases, addressing any issues or errors that arise.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, authentication mechanisms, and data encryption.
  • Develop and execute backup and recovery strategies, minimizing the risk of data loss and ensuring business continuity.
  • Utilize Amazon AWS services, such as EC2 and RDS, for database deployments, monitoring, and scaling to meet business demands.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and system administrators, to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
  • Utilize Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development, ensuring proper code management and team coordination.
  • Assist in data warehouse design and implementation, including ETL processes and reporting requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon AWS, and related technologies.

Skills You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in designing and maintaining complex stored procedures, triggers, and views.
  • Experience in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of PostgreSQL databases.
  • Understanding and practical experience with Amazon AWS services, such as EC2, RDS, and S3.
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
  • Knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate with stakeholders.

  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or PostgreSQL Certified Professional
