Deal Desk Manager – Sales Finance


Introduction


Cadence Design Systems is looking for a Deal Desk Sales Finance business partner to the North America sales organization.  You will act as a trusted advisor to the sales teams and provide finance input on deal structures & terms that maximize value to Cadence and benefit external customers and internal cross-functional teams.  The person in this role will join a cohesive team that operates in a dynamic, high growth environment for this publicly traded software and solutions company that has over $5B in annual revenue.  The person in this role will work closely with the quote-to-cash group, including the Sales, Revenue Accounting, Order Management, Credit, Sales Ops, and Legal teams.


Job Description: North America Deal Desk Finance Manager, San Jose, CA


  • Finance partner to Sales.  This person works with the sales team to structure and execute customer deals that achieve the Company’s financial objectives.
    • This person identifies potential revenue recognition, booking, and fulfillment issues associated with nonstandard features in customer deals.   This person maintains deep engagement with stakeholders across many teams to resolve such issues.
    • This person works with Business Unit owners on discounts and pricing.
    • This person serves as an expert on quoting systems.
    • This person drafts contract terms for nonstandard deal features.
    • This person will be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements
    • Focus areas include deal quality, forecasting, compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures, and contract terms and conditions.
  • Team Lead for Business Segments.  For certain new business segments:
    • This person acts as a subject matter expert. 
    • This person prepares weekly forecasts of bookings, revenue, and cash.  This person assists the Sr. Group Director in incorporating the forecasts into the consolidated regional forecast.  This person advises sales and finance management on the forecast.
    • This person manages and mentors one staff-level direct report.
  • Finance Project Manager.  This person provides finance input on operations and business model changes.  This person assists with post-acquisition integration involving the quote-to-cash group and acts as an advisor on behalf of the Deal Desk team to ensure a smooth transition and that deals align with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.

  • Ability to maintain attention to detail such as contract terms and conditions, revenue recognition rules, and booking & fulfillment systems requirements.
  • Knowledge of software, IP, hardware, and services revenue recognition rules and other accounting standards, and the impact of accounting rules to deal structures and terms.

Desired Qualifications & Experience


  • 12+ Years in Finance Department/Accounting/Auditing or related discipline
  • Education: Finance or Accounting related degree preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead and influence internal stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen, problem solving and project management skills
  • Self-motivated and innovative
  • Ability to understand the needs of sales and finance groups, problem-solve to find quality solutions, and escalate as needed
  • Knowledge of software, hardware, and IP accounting rules is a plus
  • Understanding of ASC606 software revenue recognition is a plus
  • Prior experience with Salesforce, CPQ tools knowledge is a plus

The annual salary range for California is $129,500 to $240,500. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
