Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking a Deployed Field Application Engineer, International, to join our growing global team. In this dynamic, field-oriented role, you will be a critical link between the customer and our internal teams, providing vital technical support and ensuring our customers can achieve their operational objectives. You will lead technical integrations, deliver hands-on training, and support extended field efforts across multiple international locations. 


This position requires a unique mix of technical proficiency, customer engagement experience, and a willingness to travel extensively, including trips between 45-60 days, to support mission-critical deployments in fast-paced, real-world environments.  


Position Responsibilities    

  • Act as the primary technical lead on complex, high-priority international deployments and customer engagements 
  • Deploy internationally for extended durations (weeks to months) to support product demonstrations, trials, live deployments, and operational rollouts 
  • Execute technical integrations of Wave Relay® MANET solutions into customer platforms, systems, and existing infrastructure (e.g., sensors, C2 platforms, UAVs, USVs and ground systems) 
  • Deliver comprehensive technical training to end users, partners, and system integrators, both in the field and in structured environments 
  • Design, validate, and optimize end-to-end MANET architecture based on mission requirements 
  • Provide on-site support and troubleshooting of network deployments, ensuring system performance and reliability 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers and partners, explaining complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner 
  • Act as a bridge between customers and engineering, capturing operational feedback, feature requests, and emerging use cases to inform product development 
  • Collaborate closely with Business Development and Sales teams to support technical proposals, RFI/RFP responses, and strategic opportunities 
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Persistent Systems products to develop and present unique solutions, and maintain knowledge of emerging trends in technology and online advertising  

  

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications   

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent military/industry experience) 
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a Sales Engineering, Field Engineering, Systems Integration, or Technical Support role 
  •  Proven ability to execute technical integrations and deliver end-user training in customer-facing environments 
  •  Strong background in IP networking, RF communications, mesh networking, and system-level troubleshooting 
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 50–70% of the time, including extended deployments (45-60 days) as required 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer engagement skills 
  • Ability to work independently, manage field efforts, and prioritize in high-pressure situations 
  • Self-Starter: Demonstrates a high degree of autonomy and accountability. Able to operate effectively with minimal oversight and independently drive initiatives forward 
  • Strong Individual Contributor: Takes ownership of tasks and consistently delivers high-quality work while balancing multiple competing priorities 
  • Strategic Prioritization: Skilled at assessing objectives and aligning daily activities with broader team and business goals 

Preferred Qualifications   

  • Experience supporting military, government, or defense-industry customers 
  • Background in tactical communications  
  • Experience with integration of C4ISR platforms, unmanned systems (UAV/UAS), or mobile command centers 
  • Familiarity with encryption, cybersecurity principles, and secure communications protocols 
  • Experience working across diverse cultural and regulatory environments 
  • Active Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain)  

The base pay for this role can vary from $106,200 to $132,700 based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
