Position Description 

 

Carlsmed is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the development, deployment, and reliability of its cloud-based technology platform. This role is designed for an early-career engineer who will contribute to the maintenance and evolution of AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tooling while developing strong foundations in cloud operations and DevOps best practices. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with software engineers and senior DevOps leaders in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

upport the provisioning and management of AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform 

  • Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable builds, testing, and deployments 
  • Support secure secrets management and access controls, including tools such as HashiCorp Vault 
  • Partner with software engineers to enable efficient, reliable, and repeatable deployment workflows 
  • Monitor system health, identify issues, and escalate or remediate as appropriate 
  • Contribute to system documentation, runbooks, and infrastructure change records 
  • Participate in operational support and continuous improvement of DevOps practices under the guidance of senior engineers 

 

Skills 

  • Working knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and deployment concepts 
  • Ability to troubleshoot system, build, and deployment issues in Linux-based environments 
  • Basic scripting and automation skills 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability 
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with engineering teams 
  • High level of curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and tools 

 

 Qualifications 

  • 1–3 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or a related technical role 
  • Experience working with AWS services such as IAM, EC2, S3, and related core services 
  • Experience working in Linux or Unix command-line environments 
  • Experience using Git and modern version-control workflows 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., TeamCity, GitHub Actions, or similar) 
  • Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or similar platforms  
  • Experience with basic scripting in Bash, Python, or similar languages  
  • Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as DataDog, CloudWatch, or comparable platforms (Preferred) 
  • Understanding of containerization and DevOps automation concepts (Preferred) 
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or progress toward relevant cloud or DevOps certifications (Preferred)

Compensation 

We are pleased to provide a competitive salary and benefits. Our benefits reflect our investment in the overall health and well-being of our employees and their families. including paying 100% of monthly healthcare, dental and vision insurance premiums, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, and unlimited PTO. The expected pay range is $95,000 to $110,000. Compensation may vary based on related skills, experience, and relevant key attributes.
