The opportunity

Productboard is seeking a hands-on Digital Marketing Manager to personally plan, build, and optimize our SEO, AEO/GEO, and paid media programs to drive acquisition, retention, and expansion for Productboard Spark. This role offers the opportunity to own outcomes directly in the platforms, rather than managing work through agencies.

Reporting to our Director of Demand Generation, you’ll be responsible for accelerating our speed to market, while upholding operational rigor for our programs to efficiently scale and grow revenue. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in PPC and SEO execution, and a strong grasp of AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) as AI-driven search reshapes how buyers discover products. This includes demonstrated AI proficiency through building AI-powered workflows and custom skills to speed up execution and reporting. This role is highly collaborative, and will partner closely with team stakeholders from analytics, demand generation, design, web engineering, along with the broader marketing team.

Beyond technical qualifications, you must be a highly organized multi-tasker, have an appetite for speedy learning and execution, and take a data-driven approach to decision making to be successful in this role. We strive to create a collaborative team culture, so this team member should also foster our core values of clarity, empathy, relentless improvement, togetherness, and transparency.

On a typical day, you will …

Plan & Execute
  • Build, launch, and manage SEO and paid media (PPC) programs end-to-end, hands-on in the platforms
  • Own AEO/GEO optimization to ensure Productboard content surfaces in AI-powered search and answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and similar) across our web properties
  • Build and maintain AI-powered workflows and custom AI skills to automate reporting, content briefs, and campaign builds
  • Track and manage digital timelines and deliverables with attention to detail; prioritize digital projects against our business objectives

Communicate
  • Share campaign launch updates and campaign performance digests
  • Facilitate post-mortem campaign discussions, foster feedback loops, and surface opportunities for experimentation
  • Partner with marketing stakeholders on content and messaging creation, web projects, A/B testing and experimentation roadmaps

Review, Report & Document
  • Analyze and interpret performance metrics for digital, AEO/GEO, and paid programs against business objectives
  • Update weekly shared metrics and aid in populating slide decks for key team meetings, raising contextual insights to support cross-functional alignment
  • Create and expand upon documentation for digital processes, including the AI workflows and prompts used to drive efficiency
  • Govern proper use of internal digital and AI tools and their permissions

Support Digital Execution
  • Efficiently write and edit campaign and ad copy for length, editorial requirements, and AI/answer-engine discoverability; apply best practices, taste, and judgement when utilizing AI
  • Review ad copy and content against personas and messaging frameworks shared by the product marketing team; enforce the utilization of integrated themes within our content
  • Directly implement SEO, PPC, and AEO/GEO recommendations; this is a builder’s role, not an agency-management role
  • Manage vendor relationships and explore new opportunities for experimentation and beta participation
  • Manage and optimize paid media budgets to drive performance outcomes
Your tech stack

You’ll work with the following tools, frameworks, and software:

  • Communication: Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Productboard Collaborative Docs, Asana
  • Ad Platforms: Google, YouTube, Meta, LinkedIn, X, ChatGPT, and emerging platforms
  • AEO: Search Console, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, AirOps
  • Analytics & Reporting: Google Analytics, Looker, Amplitude
  • Website & Design: Builder.io, Figma, Google Tag Manager, Qualified, GitHub
  • AI & Automation: Claude, Productboard Spark, and custom-built AI workflows/skills
About you

In addition to a skill set that brings greater efficiency to our revenue marketing efforts, we’re specifically looking for…

  • Minimally 3-5+ years in a digital marketing function within the B2B tech space, with hands-on execution experience rather than solely managing agencies
  • Strong, hands-on expertise in paid digital and SEO marketing disciplines, including familiarity with AEO/GEO practices for AI-driven search
  • Experience with audiences, targeting capabilities, and segmentation
  • Demonstrated AI proficiency: comfort building AI-powered workflows and custom AI skills to speed up execution and reporting
  • Strong, clear communication skills with an ability to manage deadlines and work across project resources and stakeholders
  • A hypothesis-driven problem solver with a high degree of accountability; can move projects forward without the need for extensive oversight
  • Comfortable building experimentation frameworks and driving CRO projects leveraging data signals with accountability for outcomes
  • A proactive, organized, and speedy learner with a demonstrated interest in performance marketing channels, AI tooling, and our business
Bonus skills:
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and marketing automation tooling
  • Claude certifications
  • Experience using content management systems and working with design and web engineering stakeholders
  • Experience working with product managers or product teams
