Director II, PR, Social Media & Partnerships | Reports to:  Chief Marketing Officer | San Francisco CA

The Director II, Pr, Social Media and Partnerships will bring Allbirds’ stories to life across owned and earned media, helping us deeply connect with our customers and fans around the world. This role owns the development and execution of Allbirds’ global organic social strategy and public relations efforts, ensuring our brand voice is compelling and consistent wherever we show up. You’ll lead a team of functional experts while partnering with brand creatives, influencers, media, agencies and global teams to amplify our presence and protect our reputation across channels.

Key ResponsibilitiesOrganic Social Media
  • Own and evolve Allbirds’ organic social media strategy across all active platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) to drive improved growth and engagement.
  • Translate the Allbirds voice for social and produce engaging photo, video, and written content for various social channels.
  • Lead the creation and execution of weekly and monthly social calendars that are innovative, brand-aligned, and culture-forward.
  • Manage in-house and on-location photo and video shoots for social content.
  • Collaborate with internal creative teams (art directors, designers, writers), brand managers and external agencies to develop and execute social-first storytelling both as bespoke content and integrated campaign elements.
  • Analyze and distribute reports on social performance to internal teams; make regular recommendations based on insights.
Public Relations & Earned Media
  • Lead the global PR strategy to elevate brand awareness, drive storytelling, and protect brand equity.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with fashion, lifestyle, sustainability, and business media across key global markets.
  • Proactively pitch brand and product stories, key executives, and company milestones to targeted press outlets.
  • Develop messaging frameworks and talking points in partnership with internal stakeholders and external agency partner to amplify business and product priorities.
  • Partner with external PR agency to align on goals, measure impact, and ensure consistency in messaging.
  • Support issues management, media training, and crisis response as needed.
Influencer & Creator Strategy
  • Build and nurture relationships with key digital influencers, tastemakers, and content creators globally.
  • Lead style- and story-driven influencer activations that align with social and PR goals.
  • Partner with the Brand team, external brand agencies and internal creative teams to ensure cohesion across organic and paid creator campaigns.
  • Identify compelling brands, people and moments to amplify Allbirds core values, build interest and desire for the brand and expose the brand to new and broad reaching audiences.
  • Cultivate partnerships with brands, people and organizations that create brand value through owned, earned or paid partnerships.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in social media, public relations, or communications roles, ideally within a consumer-facing brand.
  • BA/BS in marketing, communications
  • Deep understanding of how to drive earned and organic brand love through storytelling.
  • A keen sense of cultural trends, internet behavior, and media cycles.
  • Strong existing relationships with key editors, journalists, influencers, and/or creators.
  • Proven experience managing photo/video shoots and guiding creative content production.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, with an instinct for sharp, clear, and resonant brand language.
  • Strong analytical mindset and familiarity with social and PR measurement tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Cision, Meltwater).
  • A collaborative spirit with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with clarity and energy.
  • Art direction experience and fluency in content aesthetics.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and social media content tools.
  • Social copywriting finesse and editorial judgment.
  • Experience navigating high-pressure communications moments or issues response.

This position is based in San Francisco.  The  pay range for this role is: $179k- $200k  Allbirds routinely evaluates pay rates, and the ranges are subject to change based on market rates and other considerations.  We factor in a number of components when determining starting pay, including the job and level you are hired into, location, skillset, experience and peer compensation.

Work Environment

Work takes place in an office setting. This job may require working more than 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours a week. It requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time and communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone and by computer. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift, push, and carry up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 15 lbs occasionally.
