Directs academic services for a secondary school by managing the master schedule, course registration, student placement, grading systems, transcripts, academic reviews, calendar development, and academic events. Partners with faculty, admissions, families, and a neighboring school on scheduling and onboarding. Requires strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with experience in school administration, academic operations, and student information systems.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Academic Services holds primary responsibility for building and managing the Master Schedule, coordinating classes for students and faculty, overseeing grading systems, and implementing the school's academic programs — working in close partnership with the Vice President for Academic Life.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and own the full Master Schedule lifecycle — planning, building, and implementing. Oversee all registration materials for students, families, and faculty. Oversee student placement, course scheduling appeals, and matriculation of incoming freshmen and transfer students. Present planning options (teachers, rooms, sections) to the Vice President for Academic Life to maximize scheduling effectiveness.
- Partner with Carondelet High School on joint-class scheduling and the shared course catalog.
- Supervise grade reporting and transcript review, approve grade changes, and conduct regular grading audits for equity and consistency. Chair Academic Review Board.
- Provide support for faculty supervision as directed by the Director of Faculty Development and the Vice President for Academic Life.
- Develop and oversee the academic calendar including start/end dates, grading periods, semester breaks, and progress report timelines. Coordinate Back-to-School Night and Academic Awards Night.
- Support Admissions with transfer and newly admitted family onboarding, including academic placement meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Educational Administration, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in school administration, academic operations, or educational scheduling.
- Demonstrated experience managing master schedules in a secondary school setting, with PowerSchool or comparable SIS experience.
- Experience in a college-preparatory or Catholic/independent school setting preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities under deadlines.
SALARY RANGE
- $110,000 - $140,000
- 11 months, full-time, exempt salaried position
